About Baton Rouge

Located on the banks of the Mississippi river in southeastern Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the state capital with more than 800,000 residents (the second largest city in the state). Famous for its fusion of cultures, Southern hospitality, diverse cuisine and college football, it is also a significant port and a major industrial and petrochemical center.

Our Baton Rouge operations began in 1909 and have grown into an integrated complex that includes the Baton Rouge Refinery, the third largest refinery in the United States, the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant and several other plants and terminals. Its scope of products produced includes everything from traditional gasoline and diesel fuel to sophisticated chemical compounds that are used in diapers, shampoos, truck bed liners, makeup, crayons and hundreds more!

As the second largest employer in the state, our daily challenges include safely operating eight interconnected sites on a round-the-clock basis. We’re required to constantly adjust and respond to fluctuating markets and resource availability. We oversee the production of more than 2.9 billion pounds of products annually, while constantly searching for ways to improve and optimize our operations.

Our Baton Rouge complex is known for more than its size. In 2016, three of the six manufacturing plants that received Distinguished Safety Awards by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers association were located at the Baton Rouge complex.

What role you will play in our team

The Control Systems Specialist, as part of the Engineering Services department at the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refining and Chemical facilities, will interface with a diverse team of personnel such as manufacturing plant operations and technical/engineering (Safety, Instrumentation, manufacturing process experts, applications engineers, etc.), to maintain a variety of process control systems including Honeywell Experion, TDC3000, TDC2000, and Windows based workstations and servers.

• Ability to learn multiple control system technologies and backfill and/or help support teammates/systems outside of your normal scope when asked
• Strong, clear communication and interpersonal skills
• Comply with all ExxonMobil standards, such as Process Control Practices, documentation, Management of Change, and design review procedures
• Ability to respond, via telephone mainly and occasionally in person, to off-hour/weekend/holiday requests for support for/at sites
• Willingness to be a great team member - you’ll be the Control Systems go-to person on one or more business teams at a site and will work with/interface with all members of a large interdisciplinary team who only get things done by working collaboratively together

Minimum Job Functions

• Hardware installation, deployment, and support, including Dell servers and workstations, Honeywell Experion, Honeywell TDC3000, VMWare virtual environments and Cisco network equipment
• Support process control applications including data historian (PHD), Honeywell Alarm Management (ACM), SQL Server, VSphere platform, Symantec EndPoint Protection, backup software (Acronis, Veeam), and general desktop application support
• Maintain and install Cisco and Fortinet network devices, including knowedge of or experience with the configuration of routers and switches, networking security (VLAN, Port Security, ACLs) and monitoring
• Support Windows Domain infrastructure and all aspects of Active Directory (account and GPO mgmt) and Windows server patch mgmt (WSUS)

About you

Skills and Qualifications

• Associates degree (or greater) in Instrumentation, Computer Science, Computer Networking, Electronics, Computer Technology, or Electronics Technology
• Knowledge and demonstrated ability to use and troubleshoot one or more of the following areas of process control and associated computing systems:
  • Honeywell Experion/TDC3000/TDC2000
  • Honeywell Uniformance Process History Database (PHD)
  • Microsoft Windows Servers (2016, 2019, 2022)
  • VMware/virtual machines and virtual hosts
  • Process control protocols including Modbus and OPC
  • TCP/IP-based network switches and routers (e.g. Cisco, Dell, Fortinet, or equivalent)
• Experience of at least 3 years in a professional setting maintaining a process control system or a Windows based network of workstations and/or servers; industrial/manufacturing plant experience is preferred.
