We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Optometric Billing and Coding Specialist to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary:

The Optometric Billing and Coding Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of billing and coding for our optometry practice. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of optometric procedures, insurance processes, and coding systems to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for services rendered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately code optometric procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

  • Prepare and submit insurance claims for services rendered.

  • Review and resolve insurance claim denials and discrepancies.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and coding standards.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant billing and coding guidelines.

  • Coordinate with insurance companies to verify patient benefits and coverage.

  • Provide billing-related support and education to the clinical team.

  • Generate and review patient invoices and statements.

  • Assist with patient billing inquiries and resolve billing issues promptly.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in optometry or ophthalmology billing and coding.

  • Proficiency with billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.

  • Strong understanding of insurance processes and regulations.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
