Our client is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to oversee and manage our Linux infrastructure.This candidate must have extensive experience with RHEL and OEL 7, 8, and 9, as well as a strong background in building and maintaining both physical and virtual machines. This role requires a deep understanding of Linux troubleshooting, repository servers, YUM, Apache, REAR, NFS, Samba, SSSD, Linux firewalls, and hardening techniques. Additionally, expertise in Oracle Database, scripting in Python and PERL, disaster recovery, and various other technologies is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
· Linux Infrastructure Management:
o Build, configure, and maintain physical and virtual Linux machines (RHEL and OEL 7, 8, 9).
o Manage Linux repository servers, YUM, Apache, REAR, NFS, Samba, SSSD, and Linux firewalls.
o Implement and maintain Linux hardening practices and ensure compliance with security standards.
· Disaster Recovery and Backup:
o Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for Linux servers.
o Manage and configure Netbackup solutions for data protection and recovery.
· Oracle Database Administration:
o Perform routine maintenance, backups, and troubleshooting of Oracle databases.
o Ensure high availability and optimal performance of database systems.
· Scripting and Automation:
o Create and maintain scripts using Python and PERL for automation and management tasks.
o Develop tools and scripts to improve system efficiency and reliability.
· Web and Application Server Management:
o Manage CPANEL and WordPress installations, including security enhancements and performance optimizations.
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to web and application servers.
· AIX and IBM P Series Management:
o Administer AIX 7.x systems and manage
IBM P Series hardware and HMC (Hardware Management Console).
· Ensure optimal performance and availability of AIX systems.
· Hardware and SAN Technologies:
o Maintain and manage Client DL servers and associated hardware.
o Implement and manage SAN technologies to support storage requirements.
· Networking and Security:
o Understand and configure firewall rules, TCP/IP networking, and ensure secure network practices.
o Collaborate with network and security teams to ensure integrated and secure infrastructure operations.
· Microsoft Hyper-V and PowerShell:
o Administer and support virtual environments using Microsoft Hyper-V.
o Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and administrative tasks.
· General Responsibilities:
o Perform routine system maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
o Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
o Provide mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and technical support staff.
o Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement improvements.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
· Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Linux system administration, specifically RHEL and OEL.
· Proven experience in managing Linux repository servers, YUM, Apache, REAR, NFS, Samba, SSSD, and Linux firewalls.
· Strong scripting skills in Python and PERL.
· Experience with Oracle Database administration.
· Familiarity with AIX 7.x, IBM P Series, and HMC.
· Knowledge of Client DL servers and SAN technologies.
· Understanding of firewall, networking, and TCP/IP principles.
· Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and PowerShell scripting.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
· Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certifications in Linux (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE) and Oracle Database.
· Experience with cloud platforms and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
· Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
