As a Senior Controls Systems Engineer, you’ll be designing, implementing, verifying, and validating control systems for REGENT’s seagliders. These all-electric, wing-in-ground effect craft will have novel control challenges due to their multiple operational modes: hull-borne, hydrofoil-borne, and wing-born. This position will involve leveraging the interplay between hydrodynamic controls, aerodynamic controls, and distributed propulsion controls. You will be able to utilize high-fidelity simulations and vehicle testing to validate and verify your control systems. Roles and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and develop specifications
Lead the implementation and commissioning of control systems, including hardware and software integration
Develop verification and validation procedures and test plans
Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
Develop and maintain control system documentation, including schematics, specifications, interfaces, and software code
Responsible for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and to drive continuous improvement and innovation
Required Qualifications and Skills:
8 years of experience developing control systems in the aviation industry
Bachelor’s or Master’s in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, control systems engineering, or related engineering discipline with focus on control systems
Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink
Strong cause-and-effect problem-solving skills
Proficiency in control system design and troubleshooting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in developing and executing Hardware-in-the-Loop tests to validate control systems
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
PhD in complex, non-linear flight control systems design
Modeling and simulation of vehicle plants
C/C Embedded software development experience
Development of safety-critical components under ARP4754A
DO-178C or DO-254 development processes
Knowledge in ADS-33F-PRF, SAE-AS94900, or MIL-STD-1797 Standards
