As a Senior Controls Systems Engineer, you’ll be designing, implementing, verifying, and validating control systems for REGENT’s seagliders. These all-electric, wing-in-ground effect craft will have novel control challenges due to their multiple operational modes: hull-borne, hydrofoil-borne, and wing-born.
This position will involve leveraging the interplay between hydrodynamic controls, aerodynamic controls, and distributed propulsion controls. You will be able to utilize high-fidelity simulations and vehicle testing to validate and verify your control systems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and develop specifications
  • Lead the implementation and commissioning of control systems, including hardware and software integration
  • Develop verification and validation procedures and test plans
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Develop and maintain control system documentation, including schematics, specifications, interfaces, and software code
  • Responsible for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and to drive continuous improvement and innovation
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • 8 years of experience developing control systems in the aviation industry
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, control systems engineering, or related engineering discipline with focus on control systems
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Strong cause-and-effect problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in control system design and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in developing and executing Hardware-in-the-Loop tests to validate control systems
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
  • PhD in complex, non-linear flight control systems design
  • Modeling and simulation of vehicle plants
  • C/C Embedded software development experience
  • Development of safety-critical components under ARP4754A
  • DO-178C or DO-254 development processes
  • Knowledge in ADS-33F-PRF, SAE-AS94900, or MIL-STD-1797 Standards
  • Flight test or sea trials experience
Bonus Points:
  • FAA pilot’s license or boating/sailing experience
