As the Director of Tax Department, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our tax department, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of tax-related tasks, and providing leadership and guidance to a team of tax professionals. This position requires strong technical expertise in tax laws, regulations, and compliance, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the tax department, including supervising a team of tax professionals and providing guidance and support as needed.
- Develop and implement tax strategies and policies to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends, and communicate these changes to the team.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of tax-related activities with other business functions.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on tax planning, strategies, and compliance matters.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of tax department staff and provide coaching and feedback to support their professional growth.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the tax department, promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; CPA Certified and/or EA License preferred.
- Fluent working with Intuit Pro-Series, Lacerte, and Quick Books strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax planning, compliance, and consulting, preferably in a CPA firm or similar professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, as well as proficiency in tax software and research tools.
- Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve high performance.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
