- Reading and interpreting technical blueprints and design models.
- Calculate and write programs for CNC work centers to fabricate component parts to stated engineering specifications
- Routinely collaborates with Engineering and Management teams to ensure parts are correct to spec and shop drawings
- Develop CNC programs for production runs
- Analyze drawings to determine dimensions and to choose cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Modify existing programs for different machines
- Maintain tooling database
- Make manual program adjustments as necessary
- Loading raw materials into the CNC machine.
- Inputting the product design into the computer modeling software.
- Choosing and loading the correct cutting tools for the job.
- Adjusting machine settings to the desired product specifications.
- Troubleshooting issues during the manufacturing process.
- Completing quality control tests during the manufacturing stage and on the final product.
- Cleaning and maintaining the machine.
- Training new staff on machine operation procedures.
- Ability to read production schedules, and plan ahead for material use to enhance manufacturing operations.
- Comply with all operating procedures, instructions and safety rules.
- Communicate effectively with and work well with others, including but not limited to, during shift changes.
- Recognize and report all quality issues, to operators, line lead, and/or supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a technical or associate degree program a plus
- Experience programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills
- Familiarity with Mastercam and GeoPath
- Basic math skills
- Previous work experience as a CNC programmer.
- Ability to read and interpret design blueprints.
- Extensive experience with computer modeling software.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and stick to a deadline.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work after-hours when required.
