FairCom is Hiring a Technical Writer Near Salt Lake City, UT

Make a direct impact on the continued success of a global database software company with office locations in the United States, Brazil, and Italy. Work closely with our Technical Leadership Team to ensure that product documentation reflects the time-proven database technology FairCom produces. The perfect Technical Writer and Editor for this position enjoys placing small changes into the proper places in a large set of documentation; loves to fix grammatical errors; and has a passion for publishing perfect technical documentation to an online audience. This role directly benefits the worldwide engineering community by delivering documentation for the next generation of database APIs and data processing technology via FairCom DB, FairCom EDGE, c-treeRTG, FairCom’s other products. Get out of your cubicle! FairCom will provide you with your own private office along with a good balance of work and personal life.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Review, edit, and proofread materials written by developers and technical leadership
  • Fix grammar, readability, and style
  • Ensure content is understandable to developers and support engineers 
  • Organize content to be useful for developers and support engineers
  • Improve current content
  • Publish a variety of technical guides including concept, reference, how to, tutorial, administration, etc.
  • Effectively manage the Component Content Management System to enable reuse of content
  • Collaborate with technical leadership, QA engineers, and developers
  • Learn FairCom’s products and services 

Position Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, and/or Communications OR applicable professional experience
  • 3 years of experience in Technical Writing
  • Professional proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. 
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for technical audiences
  • Superior written communication skills with a keen eye for detail

Position Preferences

  • 1 years of experience writing documentation for DBMS environment
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL Databases
  • Experience with Software Development or Software QA
  • Experience with Content Management and Publishing systems 
  • Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators
