The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking a Senior Maintenance Worker to be a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine RECenters, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.This position participates in the performance of a broad range of semi-skilled maintenance and grounds keeping associated with mowing, grounds, park, and athletic field maintenance. Duties will include but are not limited to: completing minor repairs and maintenance of park facilities, playground equipment, picnic areas, tennis court, basketball court, restroom, walkways, fencing, signs, athletic field diamonds, rectangles, synthetic turf, and other amenities; and removal of leaves, seeding, graffiti removal, placement of sod, and making other minor repairs to turf surfaces. The selected applicant will be responsible for the mowing and maintenance of specifically assigned park open areas and athletic fields. Supervises, evaluates, and ensures that staff has been trained in and follows safety requirements for equipment operation and maintenance procedures. Operates a tractor/bucket loader with attachments, mowers, and other equipment. Uses gas powered equipment. Inspects and drives a truck and trailer, and hauls equipment and materials. Informs supervisors of conditions requiring special attention. Maintains tools and equipment in good working order. Completes required documentation and daily work reports. Reports to Area 2/Wakefield Park, 8116 Braddock Road, Annandale, VA 22003. Work hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with overtime required when necessary. Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work required. Designated Positions are subject to transfer to other maintenance operation locations. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of the tenth grade; and two years of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
