REPORTS TO: The Principal or their designee
DESCRIPTION: Works on a team under the direction of the school's certified Life Skills teacher. Provides support for the success of special education students with any qualifying combination of cognative, communicative, language, health, physical impairements, or disabilities; as well as their classmates in inclusive settings. Tend to various student supervision duties as assigned for student arrival, classes, lunches, recess, dismissal, etc. The successful, selected candidate will/must…

• Have a love of working with K-8 students and maintain excellent attendance.
• Be a problem-solving team player; able to quickly recognize and celebrate successes.
• Be physically capable of regular walking/standing, moving/operating assistive equiptment, aid in potty training/restroom needs, and assisting/monitoring student movement if necessary.
• Develop and apply deescalation strategies based on guidance/training from supervising educators.
• Manage and support small groups of students and guide them through daily activities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Principal or their designee.

Requirements

• Able to provide at least 3 references from work history in the online application
• At least 18 years of age
• Excellent attendance record
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Some college coursework or professional environment experience/training preferred but not required
• Substitute experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to obtain/maintain a substitute teaching permit and/or pass a ParaPro Exam (with a score of 460 ), if needed.
