Reports To: Principal/Head Building Custodian/Custodial Supervisor
Job Goal: To provide students of the Pickerington Preschool Program as operated by the Fairfield County Educational Service Center with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop
Performance Responsibilities:
General responsibilities:
Care of the building, grounds, and equipment
Cleanliness and sanitation of building and grounds
Economical and efficient use of supplies
Dusting all furniture and equipment
Removal of all fire hazards
Secure premises to leave building - not leaving without permission of Head Custodian or Principal
Good public relations; refrain from derogatory discussions about associates
Cooperate with principal and custodial/maintenance supervisor
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and custodial/maintenance supervisor
Duties to be performed as needed:
Sweep floors in all rooms, hallways, stairs, basements, entrances
Remove all waste paper and rubbish (trash)
Sanitize drinking fountains
Clean outside door glass panes at entrances
Check and replenish soap, towel and toilet tissue dispensers
Keep drains clean and open
Assist in keeping lunchrooms in order
Operate heating and ventilating system
Scrub toilet urinals and lavatories and disinfects
Mop hallways, kitchen, cafeteria and entrances
Clean erasers, chalkboards and dry erase boards
Clean windows, light fixtures and replace bulbs as needed
Care for lawn and grounds as needed
Miscellaneous duties:
Have doors unlocked in morning and secured in evening
Raise American flag in morning; lower in evening
Keep broken windows and incidental items in repair
Take care of all emergencies and minor repairs
Conduct routine maintenance checks and make adjustments
Keep an inventory of supplies and equipment
Perform duties aside from routine, which need immediate attention
Help the principal and teachers when possible
Consult the head custodian, principal and custodial/maintenance supervisor, when necessary
Make yourself available as scheduled when activities are held in the building
Is responsible for opening and closing building
Summer work responsibilities:
Overall cleaning of the building
Strip and refinish all floors
Thoroughly clean and repair all furniture
Care for school grounds
Make minor repairs and do necessary painting
Complete maintenance work as directed by head custodian
Performs such additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the head custodian, building principal and/or custodial/maintenance supervisor to ensure efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the school grounds and buildings

Mathematics Skills: Must have the ability to work with basic mathematical and computational concepts

Technology Skills: Able to effectively use, as it applies to your specific job function, typical office applications and computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations; must be able to use email

Additional Working Conditions
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
Occasional operation of vehicle under inclement weather conditions
Occasional alternative/flexible hours/days.
Occasional travel.
Occasional interruption of duties by staff and/or telephone.
Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may have to assist with behavior modification.
Occasionally required to assist and lift children with mobility and physical needs, and occasionally assist with getting children on and off transportation vehicles.
Supplemental contracts or compensation may be awarded by the district for additional duties and responsibilities, at their discretion.
Consistent requirements to lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 80 pounds
