Fairfield County ESC is Hiring a Pickerington Preschool Custodian Near Pickerington, OH

Title: Pickerington Preschool Building Custodian - Part Time (176 days, 4 hours/day, Monday - Thursday)

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions
  • Aptitude for successfully performing assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Required criminal background check
  • Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
  • Valid Ohio License
Reports To: Principal/Head Building Custodian/Custodial Supervisor

Job Goal: To provide students of the Pickerington Preschool Program as operated by the Fairfield County Educational Service Center with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop


Performance Responsibilities:
  1. General responsibilities:
    1. Care of the building, grounds, and equipment
    2. Cleanliness and sanitation of building and grounds
    3. Economical and efficient use of supplies
    4. Dusting all furniture and equipment
    5. Removal of all fire hazards
    6. Secure premises to leave building - not leaving without permission of Head Custodian or Principal
    7. Good public relations; refrain from derogatory discussions about associates
    8. Cooperate with principal and custodial/maintenance supervisor
    9. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and custodial/maintenance supervisor
  2. Duties to be performed as needed:
    1. Sweep floors in all rooms, hallways, stairs, basements, entrances
    2. Remove all waste paper and rubbish (trash)
    3. Sanitize drinking fountains
    4. Clean outside door glass panes at entrances
    5. Check and replenish soap, towel and toilet tissue dispensers
    6. Keep drains clean and open
    7. Assist in keeping lunchrooms in order
    8. Operate heating and ventilating system
    9. Scrub toilet urinals and lavatories and disinfects
    10. Mop hallways, kitchen, cafeteria and entrances
    11. Clean erasers, chalkboards and dry erase boards
    12. Clean windows, light fixtures and replace bulbs as needed
    13. Care for lawn and grounds as needed
  3. Miscellaneous duties:
    1. Have doors unlocked in morning and secured in evening
    2. Raise American flag in morning; lower in evening
    3. Keep broken windows and incidental items in repair
    4. Take care of all emergencies and minor repairs
    5. Conduct routine maintenance checks and make adjustments
    6. Keep an inventory of supplies and equipment
    7. Perform duties aside from routine, which need immediate attention
    8. Help the principal and teachers when possible
    9. Consult the head custodian, principal and custodial/maintenance supervisor, when necessary
    10. Make yourself available as scheduled when activities are held in the building
    11. Is responsible for opening and closing building
  4. Summer work responsibilities:
    1. Overall cleaning of the building
    2. Strip and refinish all floors
    3. Thoroughly clean and repair all furniture
    4. Care for school grounds
    5. Make minor repairs and do necessary painting
    6. Complete maintenance work as directed by head custodian
    7. Performs such additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the head custodian, building principal and/or custodial/maintenance supervisor to ensure efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the school grounds and buildings

Required Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Other Responsibilities
  1. Communication Skills: Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret information relevant to the position, including being able to speak effectively to small and large groups of people, and to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  2. Leadership Ability: Must be able to articulate a vision and mission for the district and provide the appropriate direction, guidance, and management skills to achieve them
  3. Mathematics Skills: Must have the ability to work with basic mathematical and computational concepts
  4. Reasoning Ability: Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  5. Technology Skills: Able to effectively use, as it applies to your specific job function, typical office applications and computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations; must be able to use email
  6. Knowledge of IDEA Requirements.
  7. Ability to work effectively with others.
  8. Ability to communicate ideas and directions clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  9. Organizational and problem solving skills.
  10. Ability to generate correspondence independently.

  25. Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as the Superintendent directs.
Additional Working Conditions
  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
  2. Occasional operation of vehicle under inclement weather conditions
  3. Occasional alternative/flexible hours/days.
  4. Occasional travel.
  5. Occasional interruption of duties by staff and/or telephone.
  6. Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may have to assist with behavior modification.
  7. Occasionally required to assist and lift children with mobility and physical needs, and occasionally assist with getting children on and off transportation vehicles.
  8. Supplemental contracts or compensation may be awarded by the district for additional duties and responsibilities, at their discretion.
  9. Consistent requirements to lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 80 pounds
