Fairfield County Ohio is Hiring a Speech & Language Pathologist Near Lancaster, OH

REGULAR HOURS OF WORK:Typically 8 paid hrs/day, Monday – Friday (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. as scheduled)

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Operations

DEPARTMENT:Operations

SPECIFICATIONS: 

Licensed professional providing communication development training to individuals who have a developmental disability. The employee works with considerable independence, receiving general and professional directions from the Director of EducationalServices. As an employee of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the job incumbent shall comply with all Board policies at all times, and shall demonstrate respect for, support the dignity of, and observe the rights of all individuals served by the agency.65% Prepares Individualized Education Programs/Individualized Family Service Plans (IEPs/IFSPs) and uses appropriate multimodal strategies for providing instructional or therapeutic development of communication skills; assists staff members in implementing individual programs to develop communication skills; measures and assesses communication skills through the use of clinical testing techniques; interprets results of assessments to design specific individual communication development objectives.
 
Maintains documentation, prepares written records, reports assessment and maintains program objectives and progress data for regular evaluations and revisions of Individualized Education Programs; provides Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) supervision as needed, which requires weekly observation and documentation. Explores use of low and high assistive technology with individuals, recommends and completes paperwork for (AAC) Augmentative and Alternative Communication funding; serves as lead with programming/troubleshooting of AAC devices and liaison between Forest Rose School and AAC companies.
 
15% Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team; collaborates with other professional staff in developing, delivering, evaluating and modifying total implementation plans; attends and participates in staff meetings, progress reviews and IEP development meetings. 
 
5% Performs other related duties as assigned by administration.
 
4% Maintains discipline in the classroom/therapy room; exercises disciplinary action in accordance with policy and procedures.
 
5% Attends and participates in in-services and workshops. Provides consultation and in-service training to staff, families and others to assure continuity of communication skill development programming. Completes all assigned training.
2% Maintains professional ethics in keeping with the confidentiality of information and material which he/she shall come in contact.
 
2% Is available for parent conferences throughout the year. Maintains open communications with parents so they will understand objectives of training program.
 
1% Serves on committees assigned by the Director, assists administration in preparing Board policy relating to enrollees. Assists in selecting in-service topic presenters.
 
1% Complies with Safety Rules established for the purpose of fulfilling compliance with Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards, Rules, or Orders through the utilization of protective equipment and decontamination techniques.
  • Masters’ degree or higher with Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC’s) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Current Ohio license from the Ohio Board of Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Ohio Department of Education Certification for Speech and Language Pathology.
  • Must be physically capable to lift and move enrollees, including children, adolescents, and adults in a safe manner (up to 50 lbs.), according to in-service training.
  • Ability to accurately, efficiently and effectively use technology to assist students with communication, complete required training and certification processes.
  • Maintains a valid Ohio Driver's license and a driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier. Maintains personal vehicle insurance. 
  • May be requested to work abnormal hours based on service needs.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in: verbal and written presentation, bookkeeping, organization, time management, interviewing, handling sensitive and confidential information, public relations and personal intercommunications and computer programs.
  • May use personal vehicle to transport clients and families.
  • Must be able to tolerate up to one hour in a therapy pool with temperatures of 92o – 94o F (doctor’s release required).

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: One (1) calendar year

STATUS: Overtime Exempt, Professional Status

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

1. Assesses and provides communication development training to enrollees based on IEP/IFSP objectives.
2. Plans and implements daily therapy plans.
3. Schedules therapy sessions in conjunction with classroom and student schedules and/or coaching sessions with parents and Early Intervention (EI) personnel.
4. Prepares and maintains records, reports, evaluations, and other documents. Abilityto use technology to assist students with communication, complete all trainings and certification applications
5. Inspects and maintains safe and healthful learning environments.
6. Participates in conferences, meetings, workshops, and seminars. Completes all required trainings
7. Communicates with students, parents and staff, both verbally and in writing.
8. Complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and professional ethical standards.
9. Maintains/follows policies on confidentiality.
10. Maintains discipline during therapy sessions.
11. Maintains required certifications/degrees/licenses.
12. Lifts up to 50lbs, per lifting policy, carries and moves students.
13. Travels to homes and educational settings as identified in student program.
14. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
15. Complies with Safety Rules established for the purpose of fulfilling compliance with Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards, Rules, or Orders, through the utilization of protective equipment and decontamination techniques.
16. Transports students to appropriate activities or other locations according to need.
