Maintenance/Groundskeeper – Anticipated Vacancy(Pending Board Approval)Title: Maintenance/Groundskeeper
Qualifications
  • This job requires the ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 100 lbs. and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Individual should possess a minimum of 4 years of related job experience with proven aptitude in the areas of vehicle maintenance, building maintenance including electricity, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry, turf management, tree & shrub pruning, and general grounds care.
  • Individual must possess PA Department of Agriculture Public Pesticide Applicator Certification numbers 00 and 23 within 90 days of employment.
  • Person must be able to operate equipment necessary to fulfill external building and grounds maintenance functions.
  • This position requires the use of School District vehicles on School District business. Individual must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely and have a safe driving record.
  • This position requires maintenance and light repairs of the maintenance and grounds keeping fleet of vehicles and equipment.
  • Individual should possess computer knowledge to order parts and equipment, access work orders and log preventive maintenance.
Reports to: Director of Facilities and Grounds
Job Goal: Individual in this position will, with minimum supervision, be responsible for performing duties to ensure that the Fairview School District physical plants, equipment and associated grounds are maintained in a condition to support educational, extra-curricular, and community programs.
Position Responsibilities
  • The Groundskeeper carries out those activities assigned by the Director of Facilities and Grounds.
  • Individual must assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance routines and checklists which will ensure the maintenance of the facilities, grounds, and equipment in optimum condition at minimum costs.
  • Follow a detailed daily and weekly schedule of tasks including: prune and trim shrubs, cut grass with riding and push type mowers, use commercial heavy duty weed eaters; operate chain saws, spray equipment, fertilize lawns and shrubs, and any other tasks normally completed by grounds personnel or as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participate in snow/ice removal program including: use of plow trucks, snow blowers, bobcat, high lift, tractors, salt spreader, and other snow removal equipment.
  • Develop specifications for items to be purchased and complete requisition forms for the purchase of parts and material.
  • Make repairs as needed in the field of carpentry, electricity, mechanics, heating and plumbing.
  • Complete and follow maintenance checklists to ensure that regular checks are made of the buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Use mops, brooms, paint brushes and rollers, sprayers, and work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, paints, cleaning agents or similar solutions using normal protective equipment.
  • Layout, mark and operate paint spraying equipment and layout fields for athletic and other ECA events, as well as maintain athletic fields and prepare them for events.
  • Interface with administrators, custodians, building staff, and students to assist in the orderly operation of the district facilities.
  • Conduct safely and with good body mechanics activities involving climbing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, shoveling, and carrying.
  • Complete other relevant duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Grounds.
Salary: $19.49./hour for 23-24
$20.04/hour for 24-25
Hours: April 1 through October 31 – 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Nov 1 through March 31 – 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
