Faith Regional Health Services is Hiring a Housekeeper-Nursing Home Near Norfolk, NE

Summary:

This position requires the ability to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state and other accreditation standards, guidelines and regulations governing this organization, and as may be directed by the Manager, Lead Housekeeper , or Administrator, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the resident is addressed.

2. Performs Day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.

3. Performs all cleaning and housekeeping tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. Ensures the cleanliness of assigned areas of responsibility.

4. Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

5. Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, drapery rods, door frames, etc., in resident’s room, recreational areas, etc., daily as instructed.

6. Clean, wash, sanitize and/or polish bathroom fixtures, ensure that watermarks are removed from fixtures.

7. Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms and entrance/exit ways.

8. Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc. as assigned (NOTE: Ensure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties.)

9. Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing and disinfecting.

10. Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.

11. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions.

12. Clean hallways, stairways and elevators.

13. Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.

14. Clean and disinfect vacant rooms as assigned.

15. Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times and at the end of the work day.

16. Perform isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures.

17. Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers.

18. Equipment and Supply Functions.

19. Select and implement supplies required in the performance of daily tasks. Maintain sufficient quantities of material on the cart so good time utilization can be generated in the work area.

20. Keep supervisor informed of supply needs.

21. Perform daily maintenance required to prolong useful life of equipment. Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary or directed. Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.

22. Report building and/or furniture maintenance requirements to supervisor. Report burned out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., to your supervisor and complete Plant Services Repair Work Orders as soon as practical.

23. Assist others, utilizing proper techniques, in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.

24. Perform other administrative, safety, sanitation and miscellaneous functions and responsibilities.

25. Maintain established department and organization policies, procedures and objectives concerning safety, environmental conditions, infection control and general working practices. Wear proper attire while performing cleaning tasks as necessary or instructed.

26. Assume responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings and in-service programs.

27. Maintain a professional attitude with residents, family members, visitors and fellow associates. Assure the confidentiality of resident and organization-wide information.

28. File complaints/grievances with your supervisor.

29. Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.

30. Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc., and ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.

31. Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.

32. Knock before entering a resident's room. Honor the residents’ personal and property rights. Inform resident when it is necessary to move his/her personal possessions during cleaning procedures.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

EDUCATION:

GED or High School Diploma preferred.

SKILLS:

Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
