Faith Regional Health Services is Hiring a Sterile Processing Tech-Surgery Center Near Norfolk, NE

Work Status Details: Full Time | 80.00 Hours Every Two Weeks

Exempt from Overtime: Non-Exempt

Shift Details: 8-hour shifts Monday - Friday

Department: Surgery Center | Reports To: RN Manager-Surgery Center

Summary:

The Sterile Processing Technician will perform various duties in the cleaning, organizing, wrapping and sterilizing of instruments and supplies used in surgery and other departments throughout the facility. Instruments will be processed in a timely manner and returned to the appropriate departments. They must be accountable to the policies and procedures of the organization. The listing of job duties contained in this job description is not all inclusive. Duties may be added or subtracted at any time due to the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Knows the operation of all sterilizing equipment per policy, procedure and manufacture's instruction for use.

2. Performs the cleaning, assembling and packing of instruments per policy, procedure and manufacture's instruction for use.

3. Performs decontamination of dirty instrumentation to include soaking, mechanical cleaning, rinsing, use of the sonic washer and the Decontamination/Washer per policy, procedure and manufacture's instruction for use.

4. Performs a visual inspection of each instrument for the presence of bioburden pre and post washing.

5. Performs appropriate maintenance checks and procedures for all instruments.

6. Assembles and packages specified instrument sets to include placement of appropriate indicators for sterilization.

7. Understands aseptic techniques used in steam, ETO, and low temperature sterilization process.

8. Collaborates with physicians and various departments to provide sterile supplies in a timely manner.

9. Advocates and maintains a safe environment by using appropriate PPE when handling dirty instrumentation.

10. Responsible for maintaining a safe environment during preparation, sterilization, and delivery of sterile instruments to the Operating Rooms. Follows a series of checks that all sterilization tapes and tags reflect the sterilization process has successfully been completed.

11. Maintains a safe environment for self and others by following standards of practice with all sterilization equipment.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

Job Requirements: The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION:

GED or High School Diploma preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire required.

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience in surgery or sterile processing preferred.

SKILLS:

Language Skills - Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.

Other Certifications/Requirements:

Certification from an accredited Central Supply Technician training program or within two years of hire required.
