Faith Regional Health Services is Hiring a Supervisor Nutrition-Nursing Home Near Norfolk, NE

Work Status Details: Full Time | 80.00 Hours Every Two Weeks
Exempt from Overtime: Non-Exempt
Shift Details: Days/Evenings Rotation
Department: Nutrition Services St Joes | Reports To: Manager-Nutrition & Environmental Services-Nursing Home

Summary:

Supervises and coordinates activities of all nutrition workers in all aspects of preparing/cooking/serving foods for residents, staff and visitors as assigned by the Nutrition/Environmental Services Manager. Monitors and maintain safety and sanitation standards. Provides customer service to residents, tenants, families, and coordinates with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team. Will be scheduled in the roles of Cook or Nutrition Assistant in addition to supervisor duties.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Nutrition Department ensuring a sanitary, orderly and safe environment.

2. Supervises food preparation.

    • Ensures food is prepared as indicated by food production sheets
    • Ensures food is prepared, cooked and portioned according to established policies and procedures
    •  Maintains quality control measures to ensure temperature, attractiveness and palatability of food

3. Supervises and coordinates food service to residents demonstrating sanitary food handling procedures.

    • Ensures food is dispensed in a uniform manner using portion guidelines
    • Confirms therapeutic diet order
    • Confirms therapeutic diet order
    • Notes patient food preferences or dietary intolerance
    • Ensures that items selected on menu are issued when marked.
    • Serves meal in a timely manner

4. Able to perform cook or, nutrition assistant duties

5. Ensures infection control practices are always maintained.

    • Wears hair net, apron and gloves when preparing, handling, and serving food
    • Washes hands per infection control guidelines
    • Ensures cleaning and sanitation requirements are maintained
    • Maintains temperature logs for food, refrigerators and freezers
    • Supervises dish room procedures ensuring that proper techniques are utilized

6. Places orders for groceries and supplies, coordinates staff schedules for nutrition services maintains inventories and performs other office duties as directed by the manager

7. Assists with development and supervision of staff

    • Assists with interviews and hiring staff as directed
    • Provides orientation and on-going training for staff
    • Assists with evaluations, coaching and corrective action of staff as directed

8. Performs audits of cleanliness of the kitchen. Ensures cleaning schedules are being completed.

9. Assumes duties of the manager in their absence.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION:

GED or High School Diploma preferred. 

Previous Experience Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

    • Previous management experience preferred. 
    • Previous healthcare experience preferred. 

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

SKILLS:

Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required. 

Other Certifications/Requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age to operate machinery required. 
    • ServSafe, or other Food Safety Certification, within 6 months of hire required. 
    • Current, valid driver’s license issued in the state of legal residence required. 
    • Operate FRHS owned vehicles required.
