Fall River Public Schools is Hiring a Community Facilitator Near River, MA

The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: School - Community Facilitator
Job Description: To support students and families with needed resources, including English Language Learners as well as to increase family engagement in programs at schools within the district.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for families in accessing needed community resources and services. This includes but is not limited to, meetings, phone calls, email, and home visits to assess family needs.
  • Ongoing and regular communication regarding any school based information such as school-based events, student attendance, etc.
  • Assist with translations with parents at student meetings, disciplinary meetings, health and safety issues, etc.
  • Organize and lead community/family engagement activities, such as school events, and assist with MLL events and ELL Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Meetings.
  • Assist with translations with parent engagement activities as needed throughout the district.
  • Assist with tasks or events that widen the school-family-community network.
  • Create, collect, organize, and maintain resource materials for families.
  • Assists with parent and student needs within the school’s office operations
Required Qualifications
  • Bilingual, Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
  • Experience in interpretation of educational documents, settings and texts.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead family engagement activities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (on occasion) as needed, some evening events required.
  • Good cross cultural awareness and communication skills.
  • Attention to details and the ability to organize events.
  • Understands the cultural, racial, ethnic differences of the families and individuals we serve
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
Reports To: Principal
Terms of Employment: Salary based on a 185 day work year with additional summer hours compensated as needed.
Salary: $30,000 - $40,000 annually
