Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Teacher Non-Certified.
In this role, the successful candidate Under the supervision of the Education Director of the Center, the teachers shall be responsible for working within the framework of Sunset Bay Community Services, NAEYC, DOH, DOE, and ACS policies and procedures. Teachers promote early childhood education for children and families both in and out of the classroom by providing sound supervision, developmentally appropriate lessons and community outings, and ensuring the health and safety of all children. Teachers develop positive parent relations and encourage parental involvement and the professional growth of classroom associates. Additionally, teachers conduct regular team meetings, attend staff meetings and seek out professional development opportunities to meet the needs of their classrooms. Teachers must document lessons, observations, assessments and all necessary paperwork.

Follows the hand washing procedures accordingly 4. Follows the When to Wash Hands policies as posted in the classroom5. Follows the diaper changing / potty procedures for children accordingly and as needed6. Uses the Germ Box effectively 7. Uses bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces as required8. Notifies parents and director when children are sick or get hurt9. Files incident or accident reports accordingly and as needed10. Inspects fire exits and extinguishers regularly11. Feeds children according to their individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines12. Puts infants to sleep according to their individual schedules and takes care of infants upon awakening; every effort to prevent SIDS is made.SKILLS WITH CHILDREN1. Always attends to childrens needs before everything else2. Supervises children closely and effectively throughout the day3. Uses a modulated, appropriate voice4. Knows and shows respect for individuals5. Is aware of developmental levels / changes6. Encourages independence/self help7. Promotes self esteem in communications8. Ability to work with children who are acting out9. Avoids stereotyping and labeling10. Reinforces positive behavior11. Has a clear and fair discipline procedure12. Ability to set appropriate limits13. Ability to make appropriate written documentation and referrals when needed

Helps develop language by responding to sounds infants make or words children say; sings, talks throughout the day and interacts verbally during routines such as diaper changing, hand washing, etc. 15. Turns in lesson plans and childrens observations in a timely fashion 3. Lessons plans support all areas of development and reflect childrens interests 4. Plans are carried out in the classroom 5. Provides developmentally appropriate activities 6. Develops plans based on goals from observations/curriculum 7. Provides suitable materials for all activities 8. Provides plenty of child-directed activities throughout the day 9. Provides an appropriate role model 10. Anticipates problems and redirects 11. Is flexible, responsive to child interests 12. Is prepared for days activities 13. Follows the daily schedule and provides outdoor playtime for children twice a day when weather permitting 14. Handles transitions well SKILLS WITH CO-WORKER1. Is friendly and respectful with others

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a BS in Early Childhood Education, Education, or related field
Two years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Working toward teacher permanent certification
Masters in Early Childhood Education, Education, or related field
AND Permanent NYS Certification Preferred
*Bilingual Preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
