Description of Primary Responsibilities
1) Responsible for performing ultrasound examinations, ordered by a licensed provider.
a) Prepares room, equipment, and necessary paperwork.
b) Prepares the patient for the examination and explains the procedure to the patient.
c) Produces images and ultrasonic recordings of internal body tissues.
d) Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images.
e) Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings.
f) Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate Clinician.
g) Transfers patient to and from x-ray room; positions patient correctly for x-ray being taken.
h) Operates x-ray equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, thus producing good quality radiographs.
i) Follows protocols and guidelines to ensure accurate and high-quality images.
j) Reports equipment failures and participates in quality assurance.
k) Places patient identification and markers on images.
l) Collaborates with Clinicians to provide necessary imaging support for patient care.
m) Inventories and order supplies.
n) Maintains Patient Daily Log.
o) Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional & Technical Knowledge:
1) Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
2) Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures.
3) Knowledge of operating X-ray equipment and understanding imaging techniques.
Technical Skills:
1) Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
2) Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
Licenses & Certifications:
1) Satisfactory completion of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is required.
2) Current and valid registration as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or ARRT-Sonography is required.
Communications Skills:
1) Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to co-workers and others.
2) Employees are expected to exercise tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements.
3) Requires the effective communication of written information including electronic correspondence.
4) Bilingual skills preferred.
Physical Demands: Moderate risk even with controls in place (sharp objects, etc.)
Pay Range:
Min Hourly Rate: $31.68
Max Hourly Rate: $45.10
