**Job Summary:**
The Direct Care Worker (DCW) - WEEKEND 1ST SHIFT, B14 position at Brooks Hill in Wolcott, CT involves providing habilitation assistance and care to clients in various Agency programs, including community and supported living arrangements, family support services program, and day/vocational program. The role requires direct daily care, teaching, supervising, and record-keeping for clients. This is a part-time position, offering 20 hours per week with a pay rate of $17.25 per hour.
**Responsibilities:**
- Directly supervising clients, ensuring awareness of their status and location at all times.
- Assisting in the preparation and implementation of individualized plans for clients.
- Teaching, supervising, and assisting clients in performing adult daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene, eating, banking, shopping, community participation, etc.
- Monitoring client progress on goals and reporting incidents of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.
- Completing incident reports and medication error reports.
- Implementing behavioral plans, including approved or emergency restraints and procedures.
- Implementing occupational, physical, and speech therapist programs.
- Developing and implementing recreation and community participation activities.
- Collaborating with the Clinical Director, Consultants, families, schools, and other agencies.
- Maintaining accurate and timely record-keeping of services provided to clients and specific goals identified in each client's plan.
- Working cooperatively with supervisory staff and other employees.
- Attending required staff meetings, in-services, and trainings.
- Administering medications, providing routine healthcare and first aid to clients.
- Ensuring cleanliness and organization of program sites and van.
- Transporting clients to and from designated activities.
- Participating in emergency drills as required.
- Completing Medication Certification program and maintaining certification.
- Ensuring accurate record keeping for petty cash and client cash on hand accounts.
- Performing any other related duties as requested by the Program Director or Assistant.
**Qualifications:**
- Must be able to complete the Medication Certification Program.
- Must be able to complete PMT, CPR, and First Aid training program.
- Must have a valid CT driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or behavioral challenges is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Physical Demands:**
The physical demands of the role include talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee may lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and may be required to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force when initiating physical restraint procedures. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
**Language Skills:**
The ability to read and interpret English documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully is required.
**Mathematical Skills:**
The role requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
**Reasoning Ability:**
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables is essential.
**Work Environment:**
The work environment is moderate in terms of noise level. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may travel by automobile and be exposed to changing weather conditions.
This position is based in Wolcott, CT.
**Note:** The schedule for this position includes a flexible 4 hours.
