Family Service Society, Inc is Hiring a Youth Empowerment Specialist (per diem) up to 20 Hours/Week Near Corning, NY

Position Summary: We are currently seeking several Youth Empowerment Specialists for our new home and community-based services, The Youth Empowerment Services Program (The YES Program). The YES Program serves youth ages 0-21 with mental health disorders who would benefit from in-home or community-based services to acquire skills to improve their behavioral/social/emotional wellbeing. The YES provider develops rapport with youth, which fosters a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment. The YES provider assists in assessing, creating a treatment plan, and developing activities for youth and/or their families to improve their wellbeing. The YES provider is responsible for all service delivery and insurance documentation, such as progress notes and treatment plans. The successful candidate will identify and align with the agency’s mission and values (listed below) in order to improve the well-being of clients and our community. Services are provided in Steuben County and may occur in any of our office/youth program locations in Corning, Bath, or Hornell, NY. Additionally, youth can receive services in their home and at various community locations. The YES provider must have reliable transportation.

Agency Culture for Youth Services Employees: The YES provider will receive regular supervision from the Manager of the YES Program. Training to provide direct care services and supervisory skill growth is provided. (i.e. Youth Mental Health First Aid/Mandated Reporting). YES Providers will also receive staff development to further their skills and knowledge base.

Education and Experience Requirements: Minimum requirements: Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent plus at least two years experience working with youth and families to provide services. Preferred requirements: Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field plus two years of experience with youth in the human service field. Candidates with their master’s degree or limited permits for social work or mental health counseling would also qualify for the position and work in these programs may count towards licensure. The YES provider will comply with all requested background checks. The successful candidate must be able to unconditionally serve youth and families who are diverse in their race, culture, religion, economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and abilities.
