Description
This position will be responsible for supporting the preparation of grant proposals and reports; researching government, foundation, corporate and other funding sources;, maintaining grants calendar, database and administration of activities related to grant awards, including meeting deadlines for grants/reports, creating attachments for inclusion with proposals and maintaining grant support files.
Complete process of drafting and submitting grant proposals and reports.
- Determine due dates and priority funding areas of funding sources.
- Determine time lines for completion of grant proposals/reports and coordinate with appropriate program and finance team members to discuss proposals, as appropriate.
- Draft, proofread and/or edit proposals.
- Create, organize, and ensure ongoing timely updates of narratives, statistics, and attachments for grant proposals/reports.
- Help assure timely, quality and complete submission of grant proposals/reports
Coordinate statistical data collection and maintain grants calendar.
- In collaboration with Director of Grants Administration and Program Impact Evaluator, regularly Collect statistics, narratives, and key updates from programs.
- Keep grants database information current and produce regular reports to track and evaluate grant making efforts.
Assist in administering activities related to grant awards.
- Record grant award decisions and date awarded and received.
- Assure maintenance of grant files and grant support files, such as attachments, budgets, related articles and statistics for use in grants.
- Help report grant awards to team members.
- Send key program/agency updates to funders and thank you letters.
- Record and coordinate related reports to funders, assuring timely, quality and complete submission of grant reports.
Assist in researching and identifying potential funding sources.
- Research grant directories, annual reports, funding seminars, nonprofit newsletters, Internet and library resources.
- Help maintain database of past grant activity and future due dates of grant proposals.
Assist Director of Grants Administration, Director of Donor Relations and Chief Executive Officer with preparation of other written materials as requested, including annual reports, brochures and other marketing materials, and thank you letters, so as to maintain consistency in language.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or comparable experience is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills.
- Ability to initiate tasks and projects; organize and set priorities; and coordinate multiple tasks with multiple priorities, many of which are time sensitive.
- Ability to help hold team members engaged in grants process accountable to grant needs and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of Family Tree’s primary service areas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
