YOUTH PROGRAM MANAGER
Founded in 1978, Family Violence Law Center (FVLC) helps diverse communities in Alameda County heal from domestic violence and sexual assault, advocating for justice and healthy relationships. We provide survivor-centered legal and crisis intervention services, offer prevention education for youth and other community members, and engage in policy work to create systemic change.
Overview:
The Youth Program Manager’s primary role is to manage the implementation of the Oakland Department of Violence Prevention’s pilot School-Site Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Project. The VIP Teams will coordinate with Community School Managers and join school sites’ Coordination of Services Teams (COST) and Safety Teams, launched in 2021 to support OUSD’s safety planning as they remove police from their schools. VIP Teams will complement, not replace, other services that are a part of the school site’s COST and Safety Teams, such as mental health clinicians, restorative justice facilitators, and nurses provided by OUSD and other community partners. VIP Teams actively participate with OUSD and community partners in the planning and design for successful implementation and integration into the school-site culture. VIP Teams will also coordinate and communicate with DVP staff overseeing city-wide violence intervention efforts. VIP teams will connect youth and their families with other service providers in the DVP Network.
The Youth Program Manager will support a team of Gender-Based Violence Specialists to provide outreach, triage, and case management for youth experiencing sexual assault, dating violence, and sexual exploitation. The Youth Program Manager, in partnership with the Senior GBV Specialist, will provide trainings about gender-based violence to school personnel.
FVLC also conducts a Relationship Abuse Prevention Program, or RAPP, to provide youth with survivor-centered, developmentally appropriate violence prevention and intervention educational programming with the goal of developing youth ages 14-24 as leaders and peer educators. RAPP currently is overseen by a Temporary Youth Education Programs Manager, but if this changes, the Youth Program Manager may assume responsibility for oversight of this program.
