THE POSITIONOur roster has an opening with your name on it

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer (primarily front-end focused with reasonable experience in cloud infrastructure & microservice architecture concepts) to join the Deployment Automation team within the Developer Lifecycle organization in our Core Infrastructure group. Deployment Automation creates and supports service deployment and deployment observability mechanisms, using UI-based tools, infrastructure-as-code, libraries, and other tools. These are used company-wide to support large-scale complex application microservice architectures across several dozen target deployment locations under unique geographic and regulatory constraints. This team defines (in collaboration with our stakeholders), implements, and supports the aforementioned mechanisms.

We’re looking for passionate & experienced technologists, strong communicators, and those with a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have the confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to both learn from and educate others. In the role of DevOps Engineer you will work amongst multidisciplinary teams, tackling complex problems to create world class infrastructure as we continuously build out our exciting and innovative developer experience.

THE GAME PLANEveryone on our team has a part to play

  • Work on a platform engineering team which supports the development of performant and reliable applications across FanDuel.
  • Lead conversations to remove blockers and foster collaboration across teams
  • Collaborate with various cross-functional software engineering teams to enhance and unify our overarching engineering culture.
  • Define overarching strategic goals and translate them into actionable and detailed plans that can be readily implemented by engineers.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency across the organization.
  • Inspire change and champion standards and baselines for uplifting engineering across FanDuel.
  • Build and maintain a development platform that supports an efficient developer lifecycle for our engineers.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities and advocate for and implement improvements to the current state of projects — potentially having broader business impact across teams or products.
  • Approach tasks with a growth mindset and experiment with new approaches, learning, owning the outcomes, and sharing what you learned so that others can learn from it
  • Identify and support areas of growth for teammates that consider their unique skills, strengths, backgrounds and working styles

THE STATSWhat we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Good experience with software development, with focus on front end development
  • Good experience with programming languages (such as Typescript/Javascript, Python, Go, etc), frameworks (such as React, Next.js), and CSS frameworks (such Bootstrap, Foundation, Tailwind)
  • Good experience with software development patterns, such as MVC & the backend-for-front-end
  • Familiarity with cloud-based architectures (preferably on AWS) and infrastructure-as-code (such as Terraform)
  • Familiarity with deployment pipelines such as Buildkite, GitHub Actions, etc.
  • Familiarity with API design patterns, such as GraphQL and/or OpenAPI
  • Familiarity with design tooling such as Figma and software development tools such as VSCode, Postman, etc
  • Experience with delivering programs and projects via tools like Jira
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
