Farmington Public Schools has multiple openings for part-time, school year ELL Tutors. Position will work with students in grades K-6 and positions range from 21-27hrs/week. Positions start August 26, 2024.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must hold an Associate’s degree or 2 years of college credit or its equivalent (parapro). Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Tutors provide instructional language, vocabulary, and content support for elementary students with a variety of language backgrounds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides push in and pull out English Language (EL) instruction and academic support for selected students in small groups and 1:1
Works in cooperation with ELL teacher in establishing good EL teaching strategies for meeting the individual needs of students.
Monitors and communicates student progress
Administers and scores appropriate assessments under the guidance of the teacher
Promotes home school communication
Prepares and maintains written documentation as noted in the district ELL plan
Collaborates and consults with other EL Tutors and ELL Teacher
Attends monthly professional development sessions related to EL instruction and materials
SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION: Is supervised by classroom or special education teacher who will contribute in the evaluation process. Formal evaluation will be conducted annually by building principal or assistant principal
