    General Description: The Residency & Security Coordinator is responsible for the total operation of the school system’s safety, security, and residency verification in accordance with policies and regulations prescribed by the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools. The Residency & Security Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and management for the continuous improvement of the overall security and residency of the district. The position presents a challenging leadership opportunity in managing seven schools and a student population of over 4,000. Developing long-range safety and security measures, planning and scheduling training within defined time periods and maintaining financial and operational controls are essential components of this position.
    Qualities and Qualifications:
    • Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, a related field OR at least 5 years of related experience.
    • Candidates should be prepared academically and with related work experience in the field of law enforcement, safety and security.
    • Candidates should have supervisory experience
    • Candidates should have experience in hiring, managing, and evaluating personnel.
    • Consideration will be given to the following:
      • knowledge of school residency requirements
      • knowledge of building security and safety, including but not limited to access control, video surveillance, alarm systems
      • knowledge of computer applications necessary to complete tasks
      • communication, leadership, planning and supervisory skills.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Personnel
    • Hire, direct and evaluate personnel as authorized by school policy
    • Plan in-service training programs for monitors and other personnel as needed
    • Maintain work records, schedule vacations and implement policies and procedures required by health, safety and labor regulations
    • Prepare and conduct annual job evaluations of the monitor staff in conjunction with the building principal
    • Evaluate and oversee workflow of Residency & Security Clerk
    Registration & Residency
    • Oversee Central Registrar process and implement residency re-check program
    • Assist in requesting residency checks as needed in conjunction with FPD
    • Assist with student truancy
    • Positive and proactive communication with schools and families
    • Knowledge of PowerSchool
    • Work directly with the Student Information Coordinator and school secretaries
    Budgeting and Records
    • Make recommendations relating to safety, security, and residency oversight needs
    • Oversee purchasing and inventory controls for safety and residency within budget
    • Maintain building security and safety reports
    • Comply with legal reporting requirements from state and local agencies
    Security and Safety
    • Achieve optimum standards of building safety and security
    • Plan, organize, direct and control all aspects of school security measures
    • Institute procedures for preventive security measures and provide training to all monitors, administrators, office staff and others as needed.
    • Lead security efforts across all schools and work with administrators to conduct drills in accordance with mandates
    • Attend all local, regional, and state-level security meetings and report back to the school district on emerging items
    • Conduct district-wide monthly Security Committee meetings with various stakeholders
    • Collaboratively update the All Hazards Security Manual on an annual basis
    • Communicate regularly with the Director of Technology, Director of Facilities and the FPD on safety and security items
    • Confer regularly or as needed with Director of Technology and Director of Facilities to monitor installation, operation and/or repair of security equipment and infrastructure devices as related to each building
    • Oversight of security manuals and emergency operation plan
    • Supervise building level emergency response programs
    • Support school based educational programs relating to safety
    • Ensure district remains in compliance with safety requirements and regulations
    • Review student safety - hallway passings, parking, walkways
    • Monitor district cameras
    • Liaison to local state and federal emergency agencies, PD, FD, FVHD, Social services, any other agencies assisting with safety & residency
    • Promote and maintain standards for security awareness and behavior. Ensure dissemination of security related information to staff
    Administration
    • Establish a cooperative partnership with school principals
    • Plan meetings and provide printed materials to improve and communicate the goals of the maintenance program
    • Develop good public relations with school personnel and the community
    • Provide Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations with regular status reports including, but not limited to, status of projects, personnel issues, any problems or concerns or other issues that would reasonably be of interest to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations
    • Attend and present at meetings, Board meetings, etc as required and necessary
    • Support budget development and the supervision of expenditures
    Personal Development
    • Actively seek assistance or training, wherever needed
    • Attend workshops as appropriate to maintain best practices
