The Assistant Machine Shop Manager performs the following duties:

• Evaluate prints and specify the correct material size to order
• Create work orders that route the parts from start to finish (coatings)
• Set up shipment to vendors when needed
• Prioritize parts thru the shop for efficiency.
• Help outsource components when needed.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of Machining principles using Bridgeports, CNC mills, CNC lathes, Saws and fabrication.
• Fast computer skills to enter work orders, outsource materials and communicate thru emails.
• Organizational skills for shipping/receiving of materials

Ideal candidate will have 3 or more of these skills

• Work experience in a machine shop environment
• Mechanical or electrical background / hobbies
• Less than 2 jobs in the previous 5 years
• ERP software / inventory management
• Good written and verbal skills for writing customer updates & presenting
• Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving

Standard work week

50% of your time will be spent working with prints and work orders

• Evaluating prints and picking out the correct size for machining
• Writing up work orders and processing then thru the shop
• Checking in material and tracking parts thru outsourcing if needed

25% Shipping / Receiving

• Shipping out finished parts for coatings. This includes work orders, skidding, arranging trucking
• May require building a custom skid
• Receiving in material and preparing it for the machine shop. (cleaning and deburing)
• Making sure machine shop tooling is ordered and in stock.

25% Internal projects

• Assembly of machines
• Manual Bridgeport work
• Double checking of finished parts for quality control
• Organization of machine shop when needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
