Contract position in Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Potential for extension.

Must live local to Grand Rapids, MI

Job Description:

• Circuit Load upgrades
• New load additions
• Field checks, field work inspections
• SAP experience and reading GIS maps experience helpful
• LVD – overhead / underground. Low Voltage Distribution exp helpful
• Fix any fail items
• Work with design team and other scheduling partners
• Capacity checks / circuits and reliability with those circuits
• Customer complaints re. voltage, outages
• Grand Rapids area, most work in West Kent
• Lot of field work inspections, office time to learn the job, work on task
• Could be a new college graduate – quick learner,
• Identify equipment (regulators, voltage meters, etc)
• 4 days in the field or in office, 5th day remote
• Electrical technology type of a degree would be great
• New graduate ok, but need Electrical or Electrical Technology Degree

Duties:

· The Electric Engineer is responsible for engineering and design to support the sustainable operation of our distribution system. This role

· works with teams across the organization and external stakeholders, and develops technical projects as required.

· Headquarter is Grand Rapids (Zone would also include Greenville, North Kent, and Big Rapids), but most of the work would be in West Kent.

· This role would be a combination of in person in the office and in the field. Some working from home days would be okay too, but probably more in the field on those days to help with inspections and field work.

Duties And Responsibilities:

· Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products*

· Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems forindustrial, commercial, or domestic purposes*

· Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment*

· Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects*

· Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems

· specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps*

· Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed

· calculations*

· Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing,

· construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities*

· Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies*

· Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials and estimating material, labor, or construction costs for

· budget preparation*

· Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary

Skills :

· Knowledge of applicable codes related to electronic engineering

· Proficient in design and calculation software

· Written and verbal communication skills

· Organizational skills and attention to detail

· Analytical and problem-solving skills

· Knowledge of the theory and practice of electric utility distribution planning, construction, operation, and maintenance.

· Working knowledge of electric utility operation (i.e. generation, transmission and distribution of three phase alternating current power).

· Knowledge of distribution planning principles is an asset.

Education :

· Bachelor's Degree - Required

· Engineering from an ABET accredited university OR Engineering

· degree from a non-ABET accredited university plus Professional

· Engineering license.
