FastWyre Broadband is Hiring a Director of OSP Construction Near Overland Park, KS

Position Purpose/Summary
The Director of Construction is responsible for the planning, budgeting and implementation and completion of all construction activities at Fastwyre Broadband. The primary goal is to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This position is responsible for managing multiple major projects involving all operational groups within the company and within multiple states. In addition, the Director acts as a member of the leadership team, providing input on strategic organizational direction.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Plan, organize, and direct construction projects from start to finish, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Client Communication: Meet with clients to discuss project progress, goals, and expectations, and handle various tasks at the job site or office.
  • Manpower Management: Determine manpower requirements for a project and ensure that the right personnel are assigned to the job.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Establish and manage project budgets, monitor costs, and adjust as needed to ensure projects are completed within budget.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that construction projects meet industry standards, local, state, and federal regulations, and client expectations.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures to provide safe job sites and minimize risk.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead effective teams, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve issues that arise during project execution, and make decisions that impact project timelines, budgets, and quality.
  • Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Resolve disputes and issues related to vendor performance and contract fulfillment to ensure project success.

  • Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of OSP construction practices, methods and principles.
  • Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
  • Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
  • Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team player.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to comply with Company’s Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, as needed, to best serve our customers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
10 years of experience in OSP construction or construction management, with a focus on project management, budgeting, and team leadership.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and a focus on quality.
Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Work Environment
  • Construction sites, offices, and other project-related locations.
  • May require working in extreme weather conditions, such as hot or cold temperatures.
  • May require travel to project sites and meetings with clients and stakeholders.
