What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER position at Fayetteville Public Works Commission?
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES : This position is responsible for leading and managing a wide variety of projects, from conceptual development through implementation. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: creating and managing detailed project plans and schedules; facilitating the work of cross-functional project teams to ensure compliance with project charters and change control processes; researching and compiling information as needed to prepare reports and other documents; maintaining project documentation, to include risk logs, schedules, communication/stakeholder management plans, and other correspondence; ensuring project documentation is complete, correct, organized and loaded into SharePoint and/or SmartSheets; preparing presentations to share with staff; leading efforts to gather input/feedback from staff through group discussions, surveys, and meetings; ensuring that processes related to project implementation are documented and continually updated to reflect current practices; developing evaluation criteria and measurement plans to analyze the impact of project activities on efficient and effective business operations; and creating and maintaining regular status updates using standardized tools/measurements, to include SmartSheets dashboards. This position operates under supervision of the PMO Manager. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, with leeway allowed for independent judgment in carrying out the work's details. Performs related work as required.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED : Computer, calculator, communication equipment, and other equipment, as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of safety rules/regulations/procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft computer software applications, to include Office, Outlook, Project, Visio, and/or Excel.
- Knowledge of technology software, infrastructure, or Artificial Intelligence from a project perspective a plus.
- Knowledge of reporting/dashboard tools such as Smartsheets.
- Ability to effectively maintain scope, schedule, and budget for all assigned projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to facilitate group discussions, training activities, and communication plans.
- Ability to lead and manage work related to a broad array of responsibilities tied to a variety of projects.
- Ability to support staff in adapting to new programs /systems with the least disruption possible.
- Ability to deal with co-workers and customers with tact and maintain control in sensitive and demanding situations.
- Ability to gather and share information related to project schedules, budgets, risk logs, and other correspondence as needed.
- Ability to serve as a leader in assigned projects of varying levels of complexity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(A) Graduation from a four (4) year accredited university/college or technical school with a degree/certification in business, accounting, finance, IT, or related field, and one (1) to three (3) years of project coordination experience as defined within; OR
(B) Graduation from two (2) year college or technical institute and three (3) to six (6) years of project coordination experience as defined in (A) above; OR
(C) An equivalent combination of education, training and experience as defined in (A) and (B) above
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Project Management Certification preferred, not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
SAFETY HAZARDS: Minimal.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: As required in the Public Works Commission’s Safety Manual.
