The ACT Junior Paralegal is responsible for administrative case management and practice support. Role summary/purpose of job The ACT paralegal will work closely with a large team of partners, associates, and other paralegals to manage electronic and hard copy documents, prepare filings, memoranda, and other work product and to facilitate a seamless flow of information to and from the Freshfields team and/or clients. This person will be an integral member of a litigation team that is actively preparing for trials. A successful candidate is entrepreneurial, team-oriented, extremely organized, and attentive to detail. A successful candidate will have, or will quickly develop, the foresight to anticipate and respond to the needs of the attorneys, the clients and/or the case as necessary. Key responsibilities and deliverables Assist with preparation of court filings, document productions, correspondence with opposing parties, and other materials. Take the lead in managing case calendars and case trackers for discovery, pretrial, and other workstreams. Manage electronic and hard copy documents , including managing email and electronic files, electronic document productions, and court filings and preparing binders of documents (both electronic and hard copy compilations). Assist with note taking and correspondence management. Complete thorough desktop research and perform key word searches on Lexis and other news databases. Follow ongoing cases and provide updates to attorneys as directed. Develop expertise in use of document review tools, including the ability to manage workflow to and from large document review teams, and the ability to perform keyword searches over the data. Liaise with other office support staff, to ensure efficacy of workflow. Other responsibilities as assigned. Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience) Bachelor’s Degree. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities. Strong attention to detail. Robust technological skills and a desire to learn related processes for greater efficiency. Ability to create a friendly and professional rapport with attorneys, staff, and external parties. Ability to work significant overtime as required. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters. A desire to gain experience in the legal field.
