General Purpose of the Position: The Commissary Store Associate is responsible for overseeing the operation of an inmate commissary.

Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:

• Oversees and trains a small staff of inmates in operating the prison commissary including cleaning, unloading supplies, and stocking shelves.
• Maintains inventory control records, checks invoices, and dispenses commodities to prisoners and prison personnel.
• Operates an electronic point of sale system to record customer purchases.
• Provides inmates with merchandise availability and price information.
• Reviews stock levels and gathers and reports inventory data on a weekly basis.
• Maintains and enforces all security, safety, and sanitation process and procedures.
• Performs other necessary duties as assigned.
• Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
• Knowledge of inventory control techniques.
• Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of others.
• Ability to prepare reports, and maintain inventory and purchase supplies.
• Qualifications & Experience:
• High School Diploma required
• Minimum of 1-year experience in retail sales, inventory control, purchasing, or other related fields preferred.
• Comfortable working both independently and contributing to the operations of the organization with team work.
• Applicable education may be substituted for, or combined with work experience.

Job Type: Part-time - Shift days will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. One prescheduled Tuesday per month for inventory.
