:

Position: Supervisory Evidence Technician, GS-10

Division: Washington Field Office

Location: Washington, DC

Working Hours: 8:15 a.m-5:00 p.m. (hours may vary)

Salary:

GS-10 $75,329.00 - $97,925.00

Full Performance level: GS-10

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Permanent / Full-Time

Additional selections may be made from this announcement to fill positions within the same division when the position includes substantially the same duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance
  • Some travel may be required
  • Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license
  • Selectee will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 annually
  • Selectee will be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)

Work Environment:

Work is performed within the office setting or actual crime scenes. May be placed in a hazardous situation when handling potentially dangerous materials, such as explosives, poisons, corrosives, highly combustible items, and items contaminated with infectious materials that require various safety precautions, such as protective clothing and equipment , safety glasses, gloves and masks. Required to travel away from the office for extended periods of time and may work outside in inclement weather. Required to regularly travel between the Washington Field Office, the Northern Virginia Resident Agency, and V Street Evidence Control Center locations.

Physical Demands:

Work may require considerable physical exertion such as walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting heavy objects in excess of fifty pounds.

Major Duties:

  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities with deadlines
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinates
  • Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or program manager.
  • Provides advice, guidance, training and assistance to Special Agents and Professional Staff on all aspects of evidence packaging, and the preparation of necessary documentation.
  • Responsible for the receipt, retention and disposition of evidence for the field office. Retrieves, releases and secures the return of evidence to/from the Evidence Control Room or other approved storage locations.
  • Establishes automated history of evidence ensuring accuracy and propriety of all material seized to facilitate tracking and location of evidence for investigative and court purposes.
  • Handles HAZMAT evidence knowing the type of material and how to handle, store, package, wrap and send the evidence.

Specialized Experience:

GS 10: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 9 level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Inventoried, cataloged, properly stored, surplus and packaged a variety of materials
  • Handled, stored, wrapped, packaged, and shipped all types of evidence and hazardous materials
  • Established automated history of materials to ensure tracking and location
  • Provided extensive advice guidance, and training on all aspects of evidence processing and procedures

In addition to the above, the applicant must possess leadership skills

Education:

Education may not be substituted for Specialized Experience (SE) at this grade level.
