Duties
  • Provides oversight and advisory services to Community Affairs programs: reviewing, coordinating, and providing feedback to improve and align work with organizational and functional goals.
  • Identifies and advises staff on reporting requirements, including need for performance metrics, and assists staff in the steps to implement data gathering to support improved outcome measurements.
  • Organizes working groups to address challenges and provides support through the attainment of resources, critical partnerships, and other means to further Community Affairs Program (CAP) goals, including the implementation of the FDIC Economic Inclusion Strategic Plan.
  • Provides project management leadership in matters regarding the development, enhancement, and utilization of financial, budgetary and/or reporting related to programs, functions, systems and technology required for the purpose of DCP’s consumer protection and economic inclusion mission, goals and objectives.
  • Serves as an advisor for staff with regards to DCP communications both internal and external, and for a variety of official purposes related to Community Affairs programs and activities.
  • Ensures that correct writing methods and formats are used for a given type of communication, the length is acceptable for consumption by a specific audience, and that language is clear, understandable, and appropriately accomplishes the objective desired.
  • Reviews technical information to ensure it is comprehendible to the audience, complete, and accurate. Review high-level documents prior to final approval by CAP leadership, high-level proposals including requests for senior level support and/or resources, and important communication to agency officials, leadership, and/or industry executives.
  • Meets and collaborates with CAP staff to review projects and programs providing input that can help ensure that end goals are met as intended.
  • Identifies processes where metrics can or should be captured. Independently, or with appropriate staff, develops tools for the collection and analysis of data.
  • Creates comprehensive reports for senior leadership, tailoring reports as needed to capture appropriate information used to make executive decisions on the direction and goals of the CAP /DCP.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience in analyzing community and economic development topics or the role of financial institutions in community and economic development, and preparing reports used for program evaluation and strategic planning.
Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.

EducationThere is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.
Additional InformationIf selected, you may be required to serve a probationary or trial period as applicable to appointment type.
Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office at least 1 day per pay period beginning January 2, 2024, and at their supervisor’s direction to support mission and project needs. In person reporting requirements are expected to increase in July 2024.
