We are currently in search of an International Controller to join our Finance team! The International Controller is responsible for facilitating the development and annual integration of the FEED International budget into the FEED, Inc. financial reporting system. In conjunction with the Vice President of International Finance & Operations, this position will also conduct monthly analysis of international financials from our country offices currently located in Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and the Philippines in the context of the consolidated organizational financials. The International Controller will work with the HQ Finance Department and International Finance personnel, including the VP of International Finance & Operations, to ensure the accurate and timely completion of general accounting and reporting functions at Feed the Children, Inc. In addition, the International Controller will collaborate on an annual basis with the VP of International Finance & Operations and the VP of Financial Reporting and Budgeting on the organization’s negotiated indirect cost rate agreement (NICRA). They will also assist in developing processes at HQ that support growth in grants that support international operations.

Job Requirements:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required

Experience

5 years’ nonprofit accounting experience with a strong preference for international organizations required; industry accounting preferred.

Knowledge and experience in federal grants, grant management, and grant reporting required

Strong computer accounting system knowledge with experience in QuickBooks required, including migration to other platforms.

Experience with Sage 100 and Adaptive Insights preferred

Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, currency exchange, and the analysis and reporting of financial data required.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams required

Strong interpersonal skills interacting with cross-functional teams of different cultures effectively in a virtual setting required

Extensive project management experience managing high priority tasks with competing deadlines while maintaining a high attention to detail required

Ability to work occasional evenings and/or early mornings to accommodate varying time zones of colleagues required

Bi-lingual language proficiency (Spanish or Swahili) – both written and oral communications preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

CPA or CMA preferred but not required. Current US passport required

Essential Functions:

Manage the coordination, collection and analysis of monthly international office accounting reports and provide technical assistance with cost analysis to HQ Finance. 

Perform complex account reconciliations and analyze complex data, identifying weaknesses or opportunities for improvement in accounting structure or controls systems as necessary, and proposing solutions as needed.

Review international affiliate offices’ financial results and supporting documentation on a quarterly or monthly basis and prepare consolidation with FEED, Inc. financials for organization-wide analysis.

Consolidate annual financial statements for audit reporting in collaboration with the VP of Financial Reporting and Budgeting.

Collaborate with and support the VP of International Finance & Operations to assist with federal grant financial reports and compliance.

Assists in the analysis, implementation, and administration of new IT systems as they relate to International operations. This includes but is not limited to financial reporting, warehouse management, and other systems that may impact and facilitate growth of International operations and integration into FEED, Inc. reporting systems.

Provide guidance and technical assistance with cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation.

Assist the Finance department to ensure timely completion of monthly and yearly financial statements and of the organization’s annual Form 990 and related reports.

Analyze complex data and prepare reports as needed for management.

Assist in the preparation of workpapers for annual financial audits, including the A-133 audit.

Work with the CFO and management on projects and analysis as needed.

Review and obtain approval for the monthly international support wire.

Produce and analyze regular consolidated financial statement reports and ad hoc reporting to management as requested.
