Job DescriptionWe are hiring a full-time Cook / Concierge position who will work at our Maryville Retreat Center (Holly, MI).This is a dual position working under the guidance of the Executive Retreat Director. The Cook/Concierge works to ensure a delicious and pleasant dining experience for our guests at an events/retreat center. This position follows recipes and is responsible for prepping and assembling dishes while maintaining a sanitary kitchen. In addition, this position will interact with guests to promote a positive and hospitable experience at the retreat center while cross-training with the housekeeping team to clean the guest rooms, lobby areas, and common spaces when needed. Overlooking beautiful Lake Elliot, Maryville Retreat Center is located in Holly, Michigan on a 240-acre campus, and offers an ideal space for conferences, company workshops, and private and group retreats.

APPLY TODAY to join our team to create meaningful and outstanding guest experiences at the Maryville Retreat Center!General Summary:The Cook/ Concierge is a dual position working independently in the kitchen to prepare and serve food according to established menus, recipes, and sanitary standards. This role is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen during and after all meals and catering events. The Cook/ Concierge will also partner and work alongside the Lead Cook as needed for larger events and activities. We host a variety of receptions, retreats, and special events throughout the year, and we are hiring this position to ensure that the guests have a delicious and memorable meal.
The housekeeping duties include cleaning and maintaining a sanitary, clean, and orderly environment at the Retreat center and other buildings on the property. The cleaning duties include making beds, laundering, and replenishing linens, cleaning rooms, halls, and restrooms, and vacuuming and cleaning floors.
Our employees in all departments work together to strive to support the religious life of sisters by contributing to providing a warm and caring convent environment. We recognize that teamwork and maintaining partnerships among all departments are critical in achieving guest satisfaction at the retreat center and attaining a thriving living and working environment.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of housekeeping/cleaning experience ( commercial/environmental cleaning experience is a plus!)
  • 3 years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume restaurant/food service environment
  • Familiarity with hospitality, restaurant, or catering operations
  • High-volume restaurant/food service environment (working in a commercial or institutional food service environment is a PLUS).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; formal education or training in the culinary arts of food services preferred
  • ServSafe or similar food certification is preferred
  • Excellent meal prep skills.
  • Ability to work various shifts including evenings, and weekends.
