Summary

We are seeking an associate with 10 years of experience to join our Business Litigation team in Orange County, CA. Ideal candidate should have experience in corporate and commercial litigation, a strong academic background and business litigation skills. This person will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex commercial litigation matters, representing clients in various industries in State and Federal courts and ADR. This person will collaborate with other team members in developing and executing legal strategies, conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and motions, and participate in all aspects of litigation proceedings including trial.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

· Case Management: First-chair business litigation cases.

· Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex issues related to business disputes in such areas as contracts, manufacturing, trade secrets, fiduciary duty, corporate governance, unfair business practices, UCC, finance and commercial real estate.

· Drafting: Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents.

· Court Appearances: Represent clients in motion hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial.

· Depositions and Witness Preparation: Take and defend depositions, as well as prepare clients and witnesses for depositions and trial testimony.

· Legal Compliance: Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the handling of litigation matters.

· Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior associates and legal staff as needed.

· Capable of first-chairing complex cases, demonstrating exceptional legal acumen, strategic thinking, and courtroom expertise. 

Minimum Requirements: 

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and team members and to provide legal advice, updates on case developments, and strategic recommendations.

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide innovative legal solutions.

· Independent thinker who can manage multiple cases simultaneously including urgent matters and short deadlines.

· High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

· Strong written and critical thinking skills that lead to comprehensive and persuasive writings.

· E-discovery competence. 

· In-office position in Costa Mesa, CA

Additional Qualifications:

· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

· Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing with no record of discipline.

· 10 years of experience practicing law with a focus on business litigation.

· Commitment to providing exceptional client service and achieving successful outcomes.

· Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continued learning.

Compensation

· Base salary ranges from $190,000 to $210,000 per year determined upon experience and represents the firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. 

· Eligible for a formula-based bonus for exceeding billable hours requirements and other criteria.
