2024-25 SCHOOL YEARSCHOOL NURSE OPENINGS (K-12)
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The major focus of school nursing services is the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the early detection and correction of health problems.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: 1. Building Principal 2. Director of Student Services
General ResponsibilitiesI. Students:
V. ScreeningScreen and evaluate in the areas of vision, hearing, dental, scoliosis and
developmental growth patterns.
VI. Health RecordsMaintain, evaluate and interpret cumulative health data for each student. Records
include yearly revision of forms, ensuring compliance with Missouri State
Immunization Law, Sec. 167.181.

- Provide immediate intervention for students with health problems.
- Work with students and families to enable the student to achieve in school.
- Operate from clearly defined goals and objectives.
- Serve as a contact person in the school for the parent.
- Act as a health liaison person between home, school, and community.
- Assist teachers in working with students who have individual health problems.
- Initiate contacts and provide immediate follow-up with staff.
- Make referrals to agencies in the community in order to provide health needs for
