Environmental Stewardship Position

AmeriCorps* and Ferguson Township in State College, PA, are offering an exciting opportunity for a lucky candidate who possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science (or a related field) and who possesses a passion for environmental stewardship.

When: August 2024 - August 2025

Connect and educate Ferguson Township community members toward a sustainable energy future and cleaner water, air, and conserved natural resources.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As an AmeriCorps member you will support Ferguson Township by:

• Educating the community in best practices
• Engaging directly with residents who wish to increase their impact
• Training volunteers in green infrastructure management such as pollinator gardens
• Identifying invasive species and establishing management practices
• Reviewing existing sustainability policies and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Coordinating and supporting specified community-driven initiatives
• Inventorying and inspecting stormwater management practices
• Building relationships with community stakeholders
• Providing quarterly reports to the Township's Board of Supervisors on sustainability efforts

We are offering one full-time (1,700-hour contract, approximately 37 hours per week) position for a service term of August 2024 through August 2025. In this full time national service position, you would receive a biweekly living stipend of $955, an education award of $7,395 (upon successful completion of the term), student loan forbearance and interest accrual repayment, free individual health care with prescription drug benefits, and a childcare benefit (if qualified).
