Ferry County Health is Hiring an Unit Coordinator Near Republic, WA

JOB SUMMARY

The Unit Coordinator serves as a resource for unit nursing staff, allied health departments, medical staff, patients, and visitors by assisting with patient care coordination, providing information, giving direction, securing assistance and resources, and troubleshooting. This position provides direct and indirect patient care in all hospital departments and functions as a Unit Coordinator and/or a Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC). The Unit Coordinator may need to float to the scheduled role of a NAC if necessary to maintain safe patient care (Please see NAC Job Description). Communicates effectively with patient(s), family members, departmental staff, and/or medical staff. Carries out directives from nursing staff and/or providers as requested. Handles clerical duties on nursing unit, including answering telephone, relaying messages, keeping records, directing visitors, distributing mail, and preparing necessary paperwork for a successful patient transfer out of facility. The Unit Coordinator may assist in patient care and answer call lights as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Communicates updates and notices from management to the nursing care team when necessary.
  • Consistently communicates appropriately and clearly to co-workers, supervisors, and providers.
  • Registration under direction of Revenue Cycle Manager.
  • Outpatient schedule under direction of Revenue Cycle Manager.

  • Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and professionally function under stressful situations.
  • Interacts professionally with patients and their families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Maintains good interpersonal relationships with all care team members.
  • Answers telephone and intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate staff or family.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly when necessary.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities when directed.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, follows nursing and hospital policies and procedures and standards, including infection prevention and control, safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned by the UC Supervisor or management.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Actively checks and responds to emails and Qliq account throughout the work day.
  • Completes all mandatory education within given timeframe.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled.
  • Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Actively participates in the department’s quality improvement (QI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices and the employee handbook.
  • Communicates the mission, vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department.
  • Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean.
  • All Ferry County Health employees are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy, state and federal regulations, including not but limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Start and successfully complete the Nursing Assistant training course within 3 months of hire date. On-site training is typically available.
  • BLS Certification upon hire.
  • One (1) year experience in an acute care hospital preferred.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
