Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, The Physician, Scientist and Family Medicine will hold a dual role offering and providing complete medical services to patients while also conducting and partnering on original research and quality improvement initiatives as a member of the Laura Rodriguez Institute’s (LRI) team of investigators. You enjoy partnering with the provider and research teams to provide excellence in medical services and supervising mid-level providers, while being able to pursue research interests that align with the missions of FHCSD and LRI. Job Roles Clinical Physician (50%) Completes all required documentation accurately, timely and thoroughly in accordance with department standards and to comply with electronic medical record requirements, including medication reconciliation, finalizing notes, clearing out personal pool, and participating in clinic pool. Follows FHCSD policies and procedures, including (but not limited to), cooperating with the timely submission of credentialing and licensing paperwork; maintaining BLS certification; maintaining CME units based on the requirements of the specifying Board; attending all mandatory meetings; minimizing incident reports; using resources efficiently and practicing medicine in a cost-effective manner. Maintain FHCSD behavioral standards, including (but not limited to), effective listening and communication skills and respectful interactions with colleagues and patients. Maintains a productivity expectation of 2.40 patients per hour with minimum productivity of 2.20 patients per hour. Maintains satisfactory peer reviews: able to assess medical information including pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, etc., in order to facilitate health promotion and disease prevention. Meets clinic site and organization needs in a reliable and flexible manner; prioritizes work and makes an effort to adhere to schedule. Participate in Clinical Outcomes Program and work towards meeting organizational targets for all metrics. Participates in administrative duties, including lab reports, charts, and medication refills reviewed and managed appropriately. Participates in on-call schedule in a responsive and timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervise mid-levels in a timely and responsive manner. Scientist/Investigator (50%) Generates novel, independent research that is aligned with missions of FHCSD and LRI. Both independently, and in partnership with internal and external collaborators, seek extramural funding to support research portfolio. Work in collaboration with Pre- and Post-Award support teams to develop and steward successful grant funded studies/programs of research. Serve as Principal Investigator and provide study leadership, including supervision of staff and adherence to human subjects protection requirements. Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Requires an active Class C California driver's license, proof of liability insurance at $100,000, on vehicle used. No more than 2 points in past 12 months; No suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years. Board certified in a Primary Care field. Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training. DEA license Graduate from an accredited school of medicine. Masters in Research preferred. Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of California if applicable. Experience/Specialized skills (including Language) 1 year experience working in Family Practice required; experience with underserved, low-income persons, or homeless persons preferred. Experience conducting independent research (required) Demonstrated record of research dissemination activity, including peer-reviewed publications and scholarly presentations. (required) Experience leading research and/or clinical teams in project planning and implementation, as well as data collection, analysis, and interpretation. (required) Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural and economic groups. Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation). Bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities strongly desired. Cultural and linguistic sensitivity to populations served required. Knowledge of and ability to take a detailed medical history. Must possess a demonstrated commitment to community medicine. In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. $250,000.00 - $275,000.00 If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
