Job DescriptionWe are the Derivatives team that is a business unit within Global Middle Office. We work with Fidelity's trading desks, global custodians, broker-dealers, and various internal and external business partners to support derivatives trade confirmation, lifecycle events, and collateral management for Fidelity handled funds. Core processing and services that the Derivatives Manager will support includes legal trade confirmation, periodic payments, exchange traded futures collateral, centrally cleared collateral, OTC collateral, MSFTA collateral, settlements, reconciliation, and on-boarding of new products, funds, and broker-dealers. The Role
As a member of this team, you will be reporting to the Derivatives Director, will support the operational and oversight activities for the various products led by the team. You will use your industry expertise and collaborate with your team to ensure accurate a timely completion of trade confirmation, the lifecycle events associated with trades, margin calls, transfer of collateral, research and resolve variances and be a blocking issue contact for business partners. Additionally, you will provide support for tactical, strategic, and regulatory projects for our growing derivatives capabilities!
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • Four-year college degree in business or finance
  • 5 plus years of financial services work experience. Derivatives and/or collateral management experience preferred
  • Team leadership and/or direct management preferred
  • Managing effective relationships will all internal and external customers.
  • Attention to detail in following procedures & controls to ensure accurate and timely work.
  • Ability to work in a small, tight-knit team daily to share responsibilities.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and recommend operational procedures and policies to align with industry standards and market practices.
  • Ability to recognize and escalate high-risk items to minimize loss to either the shareholder and/or Fidelity.
  • Innovation to come up with operational improvements.
  • Managing daily scheduling and completion of work. Clients may include FMR, portfolio managers, trading desks, Treasurer’s Office and Fund Accounting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (such as Word or Excel), and the ability to train on and work with different operating systems.
  • Managing the day-to-day execution of daily margin calls, instruction, and confirmation of settlement of collateral, analyzing, researching, and resolving margin call and collateral variances with broker-dealers and custodian banks
  • Providing reporting to key internal and external business partners
  • Escalating problems which could have a potential impact on daily operations.
  • Assisting in the development and review for new and/or changes to departmental policies and procedures
  • Contribution to projects/division initiatives that support the business plan.
  • Effectively delegating, motivating, and managing change through staff.
  • Ensuring that the group’s performance standards are met, minimizing errors and costs.
  • Ability to maximize the use of existing systems capabilities/enhancements to facilitate the implementation of new work processes.
The TeamFidelity Funds & Investment Operations (FFIO) provides accounting and investment management support services for Fidelity mutual funds and other retail and institutional investment products. These services include calculating and distributing NAVs, distribution rates and yields for a wide variety of investment products; preparing fund financial statements, dividend estimates and tax returns; monitoring delivery of fund trades to custodian banks; processing corporate actions; collecting securities income on behalf of the funds; reconciling, reporting and moving money in support of fund shareholder transactions; and managing fund liquidity.
