Overview:

FieldLink is a network infrastructure staffing company helping people find rewarding careers in the Telecom and Low Voltage Industry . We specialize in customized staffing partnerships with industry leading integrators responsible for large commercial projects and government contracts nationwide.

We are hiring Data Center Technicians - New Construction and Existing Facilities to work in and around the Atlanta metro area . This role is a contract to hire, joining a fast-growing team offering continued industry training and a strong career path.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Cable infrastructure and high-density fiber optic rough-in: Prepare pathways for large-scale fiber optic cable installations.
  • Meticulous cable management: Implement comprehensive dressing and labeling systems for optimal airflow and future maintenance.
  • Expert fiber termination: Terminate single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables using various connectors (ST, LC, SC, SC-APC, etc.) according to industry standards.
  • Advanced fiber testing and troubleshooting: Utilize Fluke and OTDR equipment to ensure proper signal strength and identify/resolve fiber optic issues.
  • Rack and stack customer equipment: Efficiently deploy and secure customer equipment within server racks.
  • Server rack build-out and elevation: Construct and organize server rack configurations based on designated plans.
  • Hyperscale infrastructure installation: Install fiber tray systems, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, and other essential data center infrastructure components.
  • Outside plant (OSP) expertise: Run fiber optic cables from external locations into the data center facility.
  • Blueprints and technical documentation: Accurately interpret and follow blueprints and installation instructions.
  • Professional communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with colleagues and management, both written and oral.
  • Safety first: Strictly adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, including proper PPE usage, maintaining a clean worksite, and OSHA compliance.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 4 years of experience in a hyperscale or large data center environment, with a proven track record of successful fiber optic installations and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and best practices.
  • Active OSHA 30 certification (or equivalent) is required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to safely work on ladders and/or scissor lifts, in confined spaces, lift 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds. Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Tools: Proficiency in using basic hand tools including screwdrivers (multi-bit), tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose and channel locks), punch down tool, flashlight, work boots (steel toe or composite toe), gloves, and tool pouch.
