Are you interested in managing a team that will help shape and deliver the future of the Payments and Digital Assets directorate at the FCA?Do you want to work in the fast paced and innovative world of digital assets / crypto and payments? We are seeking a motivated data Manager to join the Cross-cutting Market Analysis and Strategy department in the Payments and Digital Assets Directorate.
The department performs an integral role in defining the FCA strategies for payments and digital assets / crypto, designing and implementing data strategy, identifying, and managing risk through data, training, external engagement, current state analysis, horizon scanning and initiative-taking identification of trends, amongst other things. The role is a fantastic opportunity to have influence in the fascinating world of digital assets / crypto and payments and to develop in-depth knowledge of the sectors.
What you will be doing?ResponsibilitiesAs the Manager leading a team responsible for data analysis, you would play a key role in understanding and analysing the digital assets and payments sectors and helping evidence and inform the FCA’s strategy for the sectors. The key responsibilities will be:
  • Line managing a team of data colleagues and deliver projects through others
  • Responsible for overseeing the forward-looking data ambitions and identifying new opportunities to use data analysis and data visualisation to support projects and priorities
  • The design, delivery and novel use of data to support the FCA’s strategy for digital assets and payments, using proprietary and open-source data tools, platforms, analytical tool kits and internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for operational, governance and lessons learned workstreams
  • Presenting the outcomes of data in clear, concise, and impactful ways (including to senior stakeholders) using data visualisation techniques and software to inform decisions
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on data projects

  • The successful candidate will hold or will be required to obtain Security Clearance (SC) level vetting at a minimum
  • Prior experience leading emerging technology projects within financial services
  • Prior experience in designing and implementing projects using data in a novel way to achieve the desired outcome
Essential
  • Knowledge of the digital assets, payments and e-money sectors
  • Proven analytical skills with experience of understanding complex information or data; exercising robust, consistent judgements that balance a range of differing factors, and conveying their implications in a concise manner
  • Extensive experience in building strong working relationships with stakeholders to support the delivery of departmental priorities through data analysis
  • Ability to work at pace and under pressure, using sound judgement and escalating issues appropriately
  • Ability to balance and manage a number of priorities, working independently and in a team, manage several work streams simultaneously and managing colleagues (including performance management)
  • Comfortable with responsibility and managing ambiguity
