Fincantieri Marine Repair is Hiring a Maintenance Mechanic l Near Jacksonville, FL

Salary: $24-$28

Basic Purpose and Function:

This skilled position is responsible for removing, repairing/replacing and reinstalling equipment and machinery components for repairs. He/She must be able to complete and execute the assigned work tasks following regulatory specifications assigned to the equipment. A maintenance mechanic’s responsibilities will include the removing, fitting, examining, testing, repairing, maintaining, cleaning, servicing, and preventative maintenance of equipment and machinery. This will include all facility equipment but is not limited to drydocks, travel lifts, vehicles, pumps, engines, pressure washers and valves.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be able to remove, repair, overhaul and install equipment and machinery. 
  • Must be able to rig parts in and out of machinery. 
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools to remove and reinstall equipment and machinery.
  • Must be able to do basic mathematical conversions such as metric to inches, liters to gallons, etc. 
  • Properly handles and disposes of hazardous materials. 
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours, as required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the differences in grades of materials. 
  • Shows an understanding of rules and regulations as it pertains to utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 
  • Shows competency in using and understanding the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) manual. 
  • Shows competency in knowing the different tools and their usage. 
  • Shows a basic understanding of inspection and use of the various rigging equipment. 
  • This position will require assessing equipment with the capability to lift up to 50 lbs. 

Education and Experience:

  • Five (5 ) years of relevant maintenance and/or heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 

Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties):

  • Implements procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of the function of onboard systems.
  • Installs machinery as required. 
  • Removes, repairs, overhauls, installs, and aligns main machinery and associated equipment/components.
  • Removes, repairs, overhauls, and installs facility equipment such as vehicles, diesel engines, compressors, pumps, cranes, conveyors, generators, aerial lifts, and maintenance shop equipment.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, forklifts, and trucks.
  • Dismantles machinery and equipment for shipment to repair site, usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of team.
  • Uses various portable and fixed machines, such as grinders, welders, saws, and drills or drill presses.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of hydraulic systems and components.
  • Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
  • Assembles and installs machinery and equipment using hand tools and power tools.
  • Performs and documents Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) preventative maintenance on shipyard equipment and vehicles.
