First Coast Pallet is Hiring a Warehouse Lead Near Fernandina Beach, FL

The Director of Operations is responsible for directing all operations within their assigned business locations with the primary objective to maximize profitability and promote growth.

This role is accountable for implementation of established operating plans and policies. For each assigned location, the Director of Operations presides over the entire operational workforce, overseeing safety, financial performance and ensuring HR resources are properly allocated.

Starting range $90,000-$110,000 annually

PRIMARY ROLES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a working knowledge of operations at each location, including our customer’s expectations and how our staff interacts with our customer’s staff
  • Regularly conducts detailed reviews of company site operations
  • Makes decisions, as appropriate, on establishing cost limits and reallocating financial and human resources for each location.
  • Provides the team with appropriate leadership, mentoring, guidance, performance feedback, professional development and advocacy to ensure its long-term success.
  • Establishes goals for each site leader and measures performance on a regular basis.
  • Provide detailed reports and presentations on each location’s operational performance.
  • Collaborate with the corporate leadership team (Operational Leaders, HR, Accounting, IT & Sales) to determine and develop Southeast Unloading’s operational and human resources policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and the direction of the organization.
  • Recognize and respond as necessary to variations in procedures at each location
  • Champions teamwork, innovation and process improvement throughout the company
  • Develop a working knowledge of pricing, invoicing and vendors for each site location
  • Review, reconcile and/or approve billing invoices for each assigned location
  • Reviews and approves all new hires, promotions, salary increases and awards of incentive compensation for employees within the operational reporting structure.
  • Reviews the biweekly payroll submissions to ensure accuracy, consistency and security
  • Collaborates with Director of Safety to execute all safety initiatives, including OSHA compliance and workers’ compensation claim management.
  • Gather and analyze historical and current data from each site (payroll, revenue, productivity) to be able to project and anticipate business needs based on seasonal and industry trends.
  • Foster strong interpersonal relationships with key personnel and customers in order to predict their actions and anticipate their responses
  • Modify available services to the customer to enhance profitable operation of each site.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to identify who, when and how to approach decision-makers to uncover opportunities and deliver results.
  • Use exceptional communication skills to keep all stakeholders informed and to ensure that corporate directives are delivered accurately through an established chain of command.
  • Acts as a representative for the company in communicating with major customers, suppliers, competitors, professional societies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other associations, industry, and customers that are in the best interest of the company
  • Ensures to the best of available knowledge that all corporate activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to both the CEO and the COO.

Direct management and supervision of site leaders at each assigned site.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 10 years in a leadership role, including multiple site exposure and building highly functional teams
  • 5 years of leading operations in comparable warehouse or third party logistics industry
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, but not required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to site locations up to 75% (3 of 4 weeks in a month).
  • Be able to quickly become adept at utilizing Southeast Unloading’s customized reporting applications.
  • Strong technical skills and especially demonstrating proficient in Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Have the ability to analyze data, people, working environments, customer requirements, and corporate expectations.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective problem analysis and problem resolution at both the strategic and functional levels.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, follow-up, negotiation, and closing skills. Strong emphasis on listening skills.
  • Previous business development experience including developing customer strategies, developing service and pricing models.
  • Significant experience and knowledge of accounting and quality control systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
