Job Title: Intern – ALM Data Analytics, Corporate Treasury

Location: On site at location listed in job posting. 

Internship Program Duration: 10 Weeks: September 9 – November 15, 2024

Pay: $20 per hour

Program Summary

Our 10-week internship offers a comprehensive and immersive experience for students interested in gaining practical knowledge and skills in the banking industry. Each week, you will be exposed to different leaders and aspects of the line of business. You will have the opportunity to complete projects that will help you understand the day-to-day operations of a bank and develop a well-rounded skillset. Additionally, you will have the chance to receive guidance from experienced professionals in the field, participate in meetings, and network with other interns and associates. By the end of the program, you will have gained valuable insights, built a solid foundation in banking practices, and potentially set the stage for future career opportunities at First Horizon.

Work schedule and number of hours worked per week (minimum: 15 – 25 hours) are flexible, within normal business hours.

Job Summary

The ALM Data Analytics Intern in Corporate Treasury will learn and assist with the day-to-day duties of the Asset Liability Management Data Team, including:

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

• Execute processes for extracting data from various sources to load Asset/Liability model, review data for errors, and reconcile to consolidated balance sheet. Oversee updates to model and data sources as needed for new products or lines of business.
• Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to extract insights from financial datasets related to Asset & Liability management and Funds Transfer Pricing.

Process Design and Optimization:

• Develop and maintain data pipelines and controls in support of ALM modeling and analytical processes.
• Design and optimize ALM analytics processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Identify opportunities for automation and streamlining of ALM workflows to improve operational effectiveness.
• Utilize Agile methodologies in process design, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.

Data Controls and Governance:

• Establish and maintain robust data controls to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security.
• Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to promote compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Implement Agile data governance practices, facilitating rapid response to changing data management needs and requirements.

Model Development and Validation:

• Collaborate with model development teams to enhance ALM models and methodologies.

Conduct thorough validation of ALM models to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Full-time undergraduate or graduate student with anticipated graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025
• Pursuing a degree in business, finance, or a STEM related field
• Experience programming in one or more of SAS, Python, VBA, SQL
• A desire to spend a significant amount of time reading, understanding, and writing financial code
• Strong interest in business and finance, though no specific major or field is required
• Resourcefulness, team-oriented, enthusiastic
• Entrepreneurial spirit
• Demonstrated leadership and self-development (work or campus)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Strategic and critical thinking skills

Computer and Office Equipment Skills

• Microsoft Office Suite
• One or more of SAS, Python, VBA, SQL, DAX
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus
