re _Primary Function:_ This position provides leadership and support of FLC’s ministry with those in the “first third” of life, their families, and our cross-generational community of faith. It is a position that requires creativity, vision, strong people skills including leadership, effective communication, planning and organizing skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. _Core Ministry Area:_ With the direction of the Senior Pastor and support from the Coordinator for Congregational Life, the CYF Ministry Director works to support ministry with those from birth through high school graduation and their families. The CYF Ministry Director ensures that the mission of First Lutheran Church: _Fostering faith. Creating community. Loving all. _is lived out among the children, youth and families of our congregation and wider community. _Source of Supervision: _Senior Pastor _Direction of other staff:_ Nursery Coordinator _Required skills and competencies:_ * A strong understanding of and commitment to Christian faith through a Lutheran lens * Ability to empower and equip others and lead among children, youth, and adults * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Ability to plan and execute projects systematically * Self-motivated and willing to serve * Ability and commitment to work collegially with staff and volunteers in a large church setting * Understanding of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality * Bachelor’s Degree (required) with experience in programmatic leadership among children, youth, or families and/or further education in Theology, Leadership, or Education (preferred) _Work performed by this person:_ In cooperation with the Senior Pastor, other staff and volunteers, the CYF Ministry Director is responsible for: · Ministry with those 0-3 and their caregivers including: welcome to baptism, nursery, and 0-3 faith formation · Ministry with those 3 years to 5th grade including: Sunday and Wednesday School, VBS, and more · Ministry with those 6th-8th grade including: Confirmation, fall retreat, fellowship opportunities · Ministry with those 9th-12th grade including: 9th Grade Year, Affirmation of Baptism, Youth Group, a summer trip · Stepping Stones Ministry with all ages, offering faith formation experiences and marking milestones in the life of faith · Training, ensuring background checks using our system in place, and preparing volunteers for CYF Ministry · Building relationships among and across all ages, including being present in the community · Providing presence, leadership, and participation on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings including worship · Communicating with the congregation, members, and sub-groups via email, social media, phone, app, mailings, etc. · Fundraising for the youth summer trip, camperships, and other opportunities as needed · Attending staff meeting (Mondays 9:30-11am), collaborating with the Children Youth and Family Team · Performing other duties and responsibilities determined by the Senior Pastor _Evaluation and Compensation_: This position works directly under the Senior Pastor and receives an annual performance evaluation.
