Title: FWM Compliance & Tax Specialist

Summary:

FWM Data Analyst will provide support and assistance in the completion of tax reporting and compliance functions within First Wealth Management’s Trust Department. The position will report to the manager of tax and compliance.

Essential Functions:

• Work with manager to prioritize business and information needs and provide needed support to conduct accurate and timely tax reporting and department compliance review.
• Analyze large amounts of data, facts and figures to see through the data to ensure correct conclusions.
• Assist in the process to coordinate and compile accurate tax reporting to clients as requested.
• Support the verification of critical customer information to ensure overall accuracy for tax reporting and compliance.
• Complete monthly review of tax transactional data as assigned to assist in the preparation for tax season.
• Assisting with tax reporting includes reporting for taxable entities in the form of 1099s and tax worksheets as well as IRA tax reporting of 5498 and 1099R forms.
• Assist as needed with compliance reporting and data verification including providing backup to compliance for daily work including, but not limited to, OFAC scans, FinCEN and secondary review of department account reconciliations.
• Support the process of secondary reviews of account administrative and Reg 9 reviews.
• Assist with gathering information needed for vendor due diligence.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of department custody accounts, DDAs and internal house accounts.
• Perform periodic trust vault audits.
• Perform monthly pledging analysis. Assist operations and administration as needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• Attention to Detail: Data is precise. Compliance & Tax Specialists have to make sure they are vigilant in their analysis to come to correct conclusions.
• Communication skills are critical in order to be able to interpret detailed data into understandable documents.
• Proficient skills in database structures, importing and exporting, MS Office, especially Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. (Excel test will be administered.)
• Ability to work independently is a must.
• Skilled at multi-tasking, managing priorities and problem-solving skills.
• Strong time management skills, ability to adapt and be flexible.
• Ability to work overtime if needed, especially during peak tax season.
• Must follow and maintain detailed knowledge of policies and procedures and recognize the necessity for strict client confidentiality.
• Ability to proactively work with fellow team members.
• Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance is critical.
