First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs is Hiring a Caring Ministries Coordinator Near Colorado, CO

The Caring Ministries Admin provides clerical support to Caring Ministries. Ministries supported include Deacons, Stephen Ministers, prayer team, support groups, memorial services, pastoral contact and hospital visitations. This position will at times be someone’s first point of contact with Caring Ministries and First Pres, so a compassionate heart is a must. This position works in tandem with and in support of the Caring Ministries Manager, and reports to the Caring Ministries Pastor. This part time position is scheduled up to 25 hours per week and is not eligible for remote work.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Able to communicate well and interact compassionately with those who are hurting on the phone or in person.
  • Highly organized, with good attention to detail.

Experience Requirements:

Position Requirements:

1. Provide administrative support to our Deacons in the following ways:

  • Prepare and put away materials for monthly deacon meetings and ensure room set-up;
  • Send out correspondence to deacons and to deacon teams;
  • Order Christmas poinsettia and Easter plants;
  • Communicate hospitalizations and rehabs to hospital teams twice a week;
  • Record Deacon meeting attendance on spreadsheets and in Rock (church database);
  • Assist Caring Ministries Manager in processing annual Deacon transitions; and
  • Prepare home communion kits for Deacons.

2. Connect pastoral resources with congregational needs in the following ways:

  • Answer phone calls from congregants and field questions that arise from the Welcome Desk;
  • Call hospitals each morning to prepare daily hospital and rehab visits;
  • Inform Faith Nurses of members discharged from hospitals or rehab facilities;
  • Prepare prayer shawls when appropriate for those who would benefit from one;
  • Pass along prayer requests to the online prayer team and to the Deacons;
  • Communicate requests for a Stephen Minister to leaders for follow up;
  • Provide support work for memorial services in Caring Ministries Manager’s absence; and
  • Facilitate hospital equipment requests.

3. Provide logistical support to various Caring Ministries groups:

  • Request appropriate room set-up for support groups, deacons, Stephen Ministers, and other groups;
  • Work with volunteer to coordinate the mailing of four grief booklets and letters to members who’ve lost a loved one;
  • Coordinate assembly of Deacon and Grief Workshop notebooks;
  • Coordinate Caring Ministries announcements for Happenings;
  • Send out two Grief Workshop mailings a year;
  • Input pastoral and Deacon contact info into Rock as needed;
  • Provide logistical support to Volunteer Appreciation event, Holiday Blues and Candlelight Memorial;
  • Facilitate ministry support and facility usage including: work orders (custodial, kitchen, A/V, etc.), check requests, purchase orders, print orders, and other ministry support needs;
  • Work with volunteers as needed or assigned; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
