As a Software Engineer you will:
- Own product development end-to-end — from brainstorming ideas and gathering requirements to launching new code to production
- Improve our existing products, which support both the entrepreneurs we invest in and our internal teams
- Work on a variety of apps in a variety of languages (Django, Python, React, Ruby on Rails, Vue, ) and help with dev ops on AWS/Heroku
- Build projects like these recent ones:
- First Round Yellowpages - Find the most relevant contacts that can help our internal team for various functions (talent, GTM, etc). Blend new AI-based with traditional query based searches to surface the best set of contacts.
- Data Provider API Integrations - Work with different data providers to tap into their API to blend the data with our Salesforce data to create and enrich contacts, companies and investment details.
- Customer Introduction Workflows - How do we find who at First Round has the warmest connection to a potential customer for our Founders and how do we make it as simple as possible for folks to make the connections.
- You've built and deployed numerous applications in a professional setting
- You have experience writing maintainable, well-tested code while moving fast
- You love working collaboratively and cross-functionally to bring new ideas to life
- You are great at communicating with non-technical stakeholders to understand product requirements
- You’re an aspiring entrepreneur and want an unparalleled place to learn about and connect with startups at the earliest stages

- Treat the little things like big things. Everything can always be made better. We’re all about the carefully crafted, the nitty-gritty, and the bespoke. Whether it’s hand cutting each nameplate, or debating the optimal shape of the dinner table, no detail is too small to sweat.
- Make speed a habit. Whatever you’re building, remember that now is better than two weeks from now. We’re fans of starting small and iterating quickly. No matter what we’re launching, you’ll likely hear this question in a meeting: “How soon can we get something out there?”
- Invent and wander. Never stop experimenting. The best ideas are born out of experimentation. Our flagship programs have always come from our penchant for going out on a limb and approaching problems with a different perspective.
- Build wider doorways and longer tables. We're in the business of backing people and betting on their ideas — no matter where they come from. While talent is evenly distributed, opportunity is not. We need to break down barriers in our investment process, and make sure our work doesn’t stop after writing a check. Everything from the composition of our team to the inclusiveness of our community impacts how we can support founders.
This role is remote-eligible, or can take advantage of our office locations if based in San Francisco, New York, or Philadelphia.Compensation Range: $140K - $180K
